If the cashier asked for your permission first to swipe their EDR card since you don't have your own, would you be polite enough to say yes?

If the cashier did this then they are breaching company policy and upon being reported to their management would likely be dismissed.

If EDR think you shop too often they are less likely to send you good offers on your card.
Not always the case.

We have had a good run and my parents only shop at Woolworths. The rewards cards though get used in Sydney, Brisbane and other states occasionally.

I know people on this board seem to think that folk in service jobs get dismissed at the drop of a hat, but in the real world, it doesn't work that way. First offence -more likely a warning.

I believe they can be charged as stealing as a servant..... which is treated very seriously....and auto dismissed

Having been in retail I can assure you that I have seen people summarily dismissed these type of offences. The warnings are continuous from day one. Any thing where your integrity is compromised means you are a liability to the company.

I'm often tempted to ask the person in front of me if I can scan my card every time someone responds to the cashier that they don't have an EDR card.

I've never quite been game to do it though

I did it once!

The great thing was the 'shopper' also got a discount it was like $8 or something. win/win!
