Using points will not earn you any SC, using part payment at the payment (final) stage of the VFF booking will earn SC.
So what ever has been discovered by you lot, unless its a glitch, will be nabbed by VFF soon, you will all probably get a "your booking has been cancelled" or something, if you have made use of a glitch in the booking of awards section of VFF.
I am an honest to goodness pooch and don't get involved in "improper behavior" that might come back to bite me.

It has been confirmed by the VFF rep that this is an actual VA promotion and we are all good.

Interesting pricing

On the SC front, it may take six months to retain WP now instead of five....

Up To 40% off reward bookings. International businesss class included! Book by 28 Feb and travel between 15 March 2018 and 9 Jan 2019.

Me thinks the stockpiling of Points accrued via Credit card sign up bonuses caused a few heart palpitations at VA Finance given the huge liability on their balance sheet. Now if only QF would match!

Whatever limited International business rewards are left will get snapped up quick so act fast folks.

No reward flights at all to LAX though....so sadly not a lot of use to me.

There is plenty of Y and some PE available. See my post from yesterday proving this.

I think J award availability has been deliberately removed from the system so they can say that the promotion is systemwide whilst not giving away the most valuable award seats...

Interesting!

The 30% discount is available on all Reward Seats on flights operated by Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, Alitalia, Delta Air Lines and Air New Zealand (Trans Tasman only)

Well, what can I say... good offer and well done Velocity!

There has been some discussion about a lack of award availability to LAX. Out of interest, I just checked for business class availability on every single VA flight to/from LAX during the promo period.

I only found one date on any route with J availability. There are currently 2x business reward seats on VA2 LAX-SYD departing 3 April. Good luck to any AFFer/s able to book these seats!

There is a smattering of premium economy seats available for 50,100 points one-way, or 100,200 points + ~$150 round-trip. That's a pretty good deal in my books!

For those interested, I checked for premium economy on the MEL-LAX and LAX-SYD routes. The following dates have at least one PE reward seat available:

MEL-LAX: 3/4, 5/4, 8/4. 15/4, 17/4, 3/5, 10/5, 12/5, 15/5, 21/5, 27/5, 28/5, 29/5, 7/6, 11/6, 12/6, 10/7, 15/7, 19/7, 24/7, 29/7, 14/8, 16/8, 21/8, 27/8, 28/8, 30/8, 2/10, 9/10, 16/10, 23/10, 30/10

LAX-SYD: 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 7/4, 10/4, 15/4, 16/4, 1/5, 14/5, 15/5

Economy is also available on many dates.

I've had a look at flights to Auckland on NZ metal and all the reward seats are "Sold out", checked three months worth of dates, along with different routing (PER/CNS/SYD/BNE/MEL/ADL), hmm!

You need to call up to book on Air New Zealand

I found flights to NZ on VA yesterday when I was looking.

Just got the Valentine's Day email. 30% off reward flights as detailed above. Also I have enough points for 14 toasters?? So 14 toasters would buy several SYD-LAX returns? Must be some toaster!

The email only lobbed in a few minutes ago. Apparently I'm in the top 1% of members turning their points into rewards. A 1%-er ! If I can find my leather jacket, I might patch-over ;)

I got 4%. The total burned surprises me as I dont tend to cash in for VA awards...maybe they count transfers to KF/SQ.
