I emailed the IC Sydney and (4 days later) they responded confirming that AMB benefits are available on F&F rates inc specifically the room upgrade. She also confirmed what markis and others have said that you need to book Opera house view room to get a suite upgrade and to get club in upgrade you need to have booked club in booking. I don't think you can book this room online though, at least thats what the told me when I called them up.

I tried to reply to your PM but it looks like your inbox was full. I think you've got the answer you were looking for but here is my response anyway.

I booked the opera view room on the F&F rate. I wasn't asked for any voucher/submission of friend that works there. In fact she seemed happy that someone had booked it through F&F although YMMV.
