INT - DOM at MEL

Anyone have experience with a INT flight into MEL then onwards to a DOM? DO bags get checked through to final destination or do you have to collect bags, clear customs and re check?

Want to pull a hidden city so its cheaper to route through to ADL then going to MEL direct.

Yes can confirm also that you need to collect your bags.

When you checkin at your point of origin you could ask the airline to only tag your bags as far as MEL.

If you are checked in for your onward flight ex MEL you will appear as a no show passenger with bags which wil likely result in your name being paged throughout the airport and on the flight you're not on.

It could also result in an unnecessary search for your bag that you have with you but may appear to be already loaded which may cause a flight delay.

I won't ask for them to issue the MEL - ADL and will ask only to check bags through to MEL which shouldn't be a problem at SGN
