This is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions but does anyone know when QF first release availability, I think around 355 days out, how many J award seats are made available at the start. I am talking the QF BNE-LAX-BNE flights on the 747 in particular. I am wanting to know if I will jag 1 or 2. I will be doing the bookings the moment the return flight is made available to book so hopefully I can get 2 seats. If only 1 comes up I will take it for my +1 and I will try for a SYD-LAX-SYD for myself. Both flights depart AU and arrive in LAX within about 30 mins of each other and I don't mind flying separate of each other to save 10 - 12 K.

I think QF release award seats 353 days out, how many?, well its a lottery and if you have status you'll have a better chance than most, more often than not seats a month before departure say 300 days out can be had in J and 2 or more, its the luck of the draw as they say.

Ok thanks for that and I know I can't actually do anything until closer to the time and its all luck etc. I've been trolling EF to see what U buckets show but not having much luck. Will just have to wait until the flights release and then try until something comes up. Going to be looking for Sept next year so will wait till about the middle of October before getting too serious

One way to find this out would be to ring QF FF on 131131 and ask. I have found the operators on this call centre very helpful with their advice.
