Hi all

Today babygr received his first flight ticket. He is now joining us on our syd-lhr-sin-syd flights on QF and BA in J in Oct/Nov.

As our flights were AAwards we had to buy a 10% of full fare ticket for him (that's how AA's program works sadly).

He is now linked to our booking and we have requested a bassinet position (hoping to score 4AE or 4KF SIN-SYD as we are in a F sold as J aircraft :D)

Now given that he paid $1,377 for his flights I was wondering if I can work out teh fare basis of the ticket. It is a paper ticket for some reason (the reason being that he is a very small person - but growing rapidly...) but I can't find anywhere obvious where it shows the fare basis.

It is quite concerning that his first flights are listed as Business, Club Exc and Business

Do you have a copy of the ticket scanned you can upload? Should be simple enough to tell if I can see it.

Does it earn FF points?

I assume not being an infant fare but we did pay almost as much as a discount fare just for him.

@TravelGuru - I will scan and send to you directly. Or would the ticket number be enough?

Even if it is non-point earning I would love to know if we can at least add an FF number so I can get a print of his first FF account :)

It'd need to be a scan, i cant do much with the tkt no. myself, just erase any personal info first.

Worth trying right simon? :)

I guess you're wanting to credit AA and I don't know their rules, but I can tell you that in the case of QF you can't apply for a frequent flyer card for a child under two years of age. I know because I tried to get one for Maggie before her first DONE4, at the age of nine months, and couldn't. (Maggie is now three years old and became a WP in April).

So the fare basis of the ticket may be irrelevant if you are wanting to credit QF, but as I said though I don't know the situation with AA.

AFAIK, If they're a lap infant, then they generally can't earn miles. I'd like to know of any FF program that will give miles for a lap infant.

However, if they are occupying a seat:

Acceptance of Children and Infants

Accompanying Child Under 2 Years Old Occupying a Seat
The fare for infants traveling on American Airlines / American Eagle within the U.S. 50 (including Puerto Rico / U.S. Virgin Islands) and between the U.S. (including Puerto Rico / USVI) and Canada will be 100% of the applicable adult fare.

Separate tickets for the adult and infant must be issued. The maximum number of infants per adult is two. Standard free baggage allowance applies to the infant ticket. Electronic upgrade and mileage upgrades are allowed, but limited to rules of the upgrade type (such as, only one companion electronic upgrade per adult passenger allowed). Infants may accrue mileage credit if an AAdvantage account has been established in the infant's name. Normal mileage accrual will apply.

Certain airline tickets are not eligible for earning mileage credit. These include, without limitation, the following: all tickets issued as AAdvantage awards or other free ticket promotions including free or reduced rate tickets; companion tickets; charter flight tickets; travel agency/ industry reduced rate tickets; infant tickets; items occupying a purchased seat; unpublished fare tickets, including consolidator fares; and tickets issued subject to special provisions.

Thanks for the updates. I was going to credit to QF as I have move back to QFF now to maintain status rather than miles.

Looks like I will just need to keep his paper ticket :)
