Do infants get special infant meals on QF international flights? How does one go about obtaining this?

I only ask this because I have a booking on SQ and they let me request an infant meal for my 12 month old, online through their website. Not even a mention on the QF website... typical.

I have only flown with an infant domestically but they had infant meals ready to serve our offspring.

I presume they were tipped off by the fact that we had booked an infant ticket.

Pardon my french, but are you blind? I found the information you were looking for straight away. There's even a clear entry in their FAQ's answering this exact question. Shows me that you didn't look for the information, or use either a site or google search to find what you needed.

There's a whole section of their site dedicated to assisting those pax with special needs. The information is clearly and fully documented, segmented by special needs traveller category, covering off virtually every major question you might have before, during and after your flight.

Meals

Special child, toddler and baby meals are available. These must be requested at the time of reservation, otherwise standard meals will be supplied. Let us know your child's age when ordering. If you are travelling with a child or infant aged between 0 and 23 months who has food allergies or special dietary requirements, you must provide their meals.

A wide selection of soft drinks and fruit juices is available for children throughout the flight. Make sure your children drink regularly on longer flights to counteract the dry air on board.

All Qantas aircraft carry a limited quantity, for emergency use, of top brand baby food, milk, baby bottles and brushes, cereals and rusks. If your baby prefers a particular brand, it's a good idea to carry enough for the flight. We cannot guarantee that we will have your brand onboard. Also note that Qantas does not provide infant formula.

For the "lets not tear the head of the OP, what the documentation says and what actually happens are quite different" answer

Yes you can order a special infant meal, although we didn't bother.

We've taken our daughter on 4 international flights, 2 with QF and 2 with AirNZ.
On the first QF flight we simply gave her the normal meal, on the second QF flight they had some fruit gels (the same ones we had been giving her at home) which they simply gave her just before the standard brekky service (she didn't get a normal meal that time around).

In each case we never said anything to QF other than booking an infant fare.

(Just as a side note, on the AirNZ flights, she got nothing, luckly they where only 5 hour flights)

I'd also suggest doing a search of this site as there are a whole lot of posts on how to travel with an infant (a fair few of them written by me), as age appropriate meals with be only one of the issues you'll need to resolve...

I/we have ordered infant meals. It was a long time ago so I can remember the process. Perhaps via manage your booking. We found the infant meal to be extremely generous, containing the quantity of heinz baby food for a 2 hour flight that we would have feed our child in a day and a half. In fact, one flight may have been ADL-xSYD-BNE so we got enough to feed the child for 3 days.

On child meals I've found them to be superior to the normal economy meal on both international and domestic flights. I always make a point to order a child's meal when travelling with the kids. But perhaps not when in J. ;)

once again its blame qantas for everything!! how about you read the website info that can be found .... hey..even ive found it!! and i dont have kids! geeez i hope you have the foresight to bring nappies for your infant (but qantas do have minimal supplies of these) and other essentials (but qantas does carry some infant foods as normal stock) that a parent should plan for on a flight!!! and yes..you can even bring your own infant food onboard!! its not affected by the liquids/gels restrictions!! as ive often seen parents say to cabin crew ''my child doesnt eat blah blah blah...!! ''
