Hi does anyone have experience with this?

On some sites it says fees and taxes only on others 10% of adult fare. I would like to book on Cathay to Melbourne and full fare J is 6000 for an infant or a 600 surcharge which is a bit nuts

I think by memory it was 10% of the fare. When we went to LA from perth we used qantas points for my husband and my infant and then alaska air for me and my 2 year old.
Paid $738 for adult and $645 for infant but that was in 2014 when the taxes were higher.
Now they are $200 to US and i assume much cheaper coming home .
