Indonesian visa when cruising?

One final post on this issue - cruise is finished - disembarked in Darwin yesterday. Now regarding the visa question - either a VOA or a C1 visa was fine - when another passenger asked what happens if someone did not obtain a visa the purser said "no problem - we get one for them at a cost of $35 (I suspect that is USD as all charges on the ship were in USD). Why the back office could not provide this information beforehand remains a mystery.

As for comments on the cruise - this is not really the right thread so I'll consider posting elsewhere (need to check which thread).
