Indonesia Air Asia returns to DRW

All Asian based LCCs airlines have poor form with Darwin. Tiger Singapore back in the day came and went, AirAsia have come and gone before, Jetstar Asia likewise.

DRW is a high cost airport probably not helping.

This is the second time that AirAsia Indonesia has tried and failed on the DRW to DPS route.

JQ uses Indonesian contract cabin staff on this route.

Each time AirAsia Indonesia starts operations on this route, JQ reduces the fares.

After AirAsia Indonesia leaves, JQ ups the fares.

Same with Cairns
Jetstar upped to a A321. Then pulled back to the A320 after they left.

I think half the issue AirAsia has is with the stupid MOVE booking platform they offer. Back in the day they had a simple booking platform but now they have just made it too confusing.

I’m fairly sure AirAsia run its crews on all flights (narrowbody) as a return. I wonder if they will layover crews into Melbourne.

AirAsia work their cabin crews hard.

Not only do they have to do all the safety stuff, serve food and drinks, They also have to push the trolley up and down the aisle selling things.

After the passengers leave the plane, their cabin crews are expected to clean the plane.

On the PER to DPS route, there is only a short turnaround for AirAsia Indonesia planes. Their crews are based in Indonesia.

The Adelaide flights taking into account a 60min sign on and 30min sign off would have the shift as local time Indonesia 2245-1130am

The Melbourne flight would be 2010-1155am

It appears they are only running MEL-DPS 3 weekly in May.
