AFF'ers, please bear with me..

I made a couple of velocity redemptions after the sabre changeover. Two of the bookings were the sane flight however one if them had me flying and the other booking my fiancé and i.

Velocity proceeded to cancel the booking I had in my own name due to duplication which technically it wasn't, issued a refund etc. They didn't ask but just sent me an email telling me what they'd done which I found quite unprofessional.

Anyway.. So now I have a booking for the two of us however it looks like my fiancé my not make the flight but I will still take the flight

What is the best course of action? I don't want to cancel and am trying to avoid velocity call centre as the reports on here aren't favorable. Can I just check in and let them know the other party won't be joining?

Suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

call them and ask them to seperate the booking so that there's no issue when your fiance doesnt check in maybe? not sure why you would have had 2 bookings where you are travelling?

With revenue fares they are able to split the booking in two (one for each passenger) then cancel the booking that is not needed. I would see if they can do this for a points booking.

Not sure if you have status Hummel, but the Plat call centre have been excellent in the past fortnight or so.

It was however a complete shemozzle in the weeks after the Sabre-switch, which may be where the less than favourable reports stem from...

Worth a try, esp given the circumstance.
Good luck,
D-H.

I'm SG with VA so will give them a call tommorow, i'm just scared of mentioning the word 'cancel' and them cancelling the booking. I've got connecting flights and hotel bookings already paid for.

In the event that your fiance will definitely miss the flight and you have sufficient time to give them notice, could you call VA and tell them that it has come to your attention that they have accidentally cancelled the wrong ticket (ie your ticket rather than your+fiance ticket).

I had a situation in which I had booked a paid Y return flight pre-sabre that I cancelled and changed over to a J redemption for the same flight (for SCs). Interestingly I was still sent reminders for both itineraries to my email when it came time to fly (could only check in for the J itinerary though).

If you have 2x reward fares in Y under your name, and you checked into both (a-la "comfort seat"), would you earn SC's on both?

Has anyone experienced this?

I have had them separate 2 passengers on a rewards booking to two different booking numbers before.

Spoke to a lovely girl named Rebecca early this morning. Managed to split the booking so now I don't have to stress about it too much.
