I'm Sarah. My husband travels a lot with Virgin so I joined here to make the most of his points. We are planning a big trip next year. Hawaii-Alaska-vegas-NY-atlanta-mexico-LA-melbourne. We also have two kids. Any advice or opinions are totally welcome. We are experienced travellers but we've never used points to travel.

You may have just hit the jackpot :) Please be a little more specific with your questions and the members of the AFF community will be happy to assist. Cheers CM

Welcome aboard!

There's lots of great information here so I suggest getting stuck into some reading and then ask questions about what you're still unsure about

1st thought .... kids & frequent flyers seats in school holidays, can be very hard to get, or are you taking them out of school ?

Welcome Sarah and good luck with the planning. Get reading here, there is a wealth of knowledge. Some things to consider, tell us exactly what yr route is (eg starting in MEL?), the date you'd like to leave, and ... how many points you have now, or anticipating getting when you need to book. Do you / your husband have any status?

Welcome to AFF.

I'd suggest you place any questions you have in the appropriate thread.

This is a good place to stay yr research on Virgin.

Welcome aboard @Sarah K

Let me spin it differently , are you planning on booking only reward seats or book revenue tickets and use your points to upgrade.

Is either of you having Velocity Platinum or Gold status so it changes the equation of preference.

Hope you get what you want here and enjoy the abundance of knowledge that is shared here.

Cheers

Yes, the Introductions thread may not attract much attention regarding the proposed trip.

And welcome to AFF.

if you can't get international flights using ff pts, you can probably get all U.S. domestic flights on Delta assuming you have enough points.

OP also has another thread on this proposed trip. More here:

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Yes, my husband is a platinum Velocity member. I am actually looking at doing any variation of buying tickets and out upgrading using points and or just buying some legs with just points. There's so many options and variations that it seems overwhelming

@Sarah K If earning SCs is not a concern then I would suggest booking economy tickets and using points/currency to bid for upgrades as feasible. Will be interested to know how it all falls through for you. Enjoy your vacay.
