i think you need to HUACA, Qantas cancelled the original flight and put you on an unsuitable replacement. It shouldn't matter if the flight is a CR.

Correct. And also if the connection doesn’t meet minimum connecting times, award seats don’t matter.

How could Qantas offer op an non-compliant connection then?

Qantas changed our international flight out of SYD a couple of years ago to one that left several hours earlier than our connecting flight from MEL into SYD.
The call centre was very helpful though.

OK, another 30 mins on the blower to Qantas, got a more knowledgeable agent this time who as soon as I mentioned they'd cancelled our BNE-SYD flight, knew that it was QF's responsibility to reaccommodate us on a flight that worked for us. She has sorted it out, linked our bookings, and reticketed.
She was even trying to get our seats closer together, but we were already pretty happy with not sitting next to each other.

OH and she said she'd pass feedback to the original agent I spoke to about this situation and what they should be able to do.

I believe it is for reward tickets but at least you can get Teen Katie sorted @Katie Others may have a better suggestion

Although it’s worth noting that it’s not so much if an issue for qantas tickets in Qantas aircraft.

If they fail to ticket in time they just create the seats for you. Very different to failing to ticket partner airlines where the seats - especially awards - may be lost.

I’d just call back and chase ticketing… with the excuse you need finalised tickets for visas, or travel insurance, or whatever.
