No, not from eating or drinking too much  (although that sometimes happens) but my life is from the increasingly bloated new applications and software updates clogging my devices and complicating my life.

Obviously, some new applications are great for making life easier and providing new ways to discover new technology, research, communicate with all your real or sometime 'friends', to make bookings easier and generally organise your busy life.

However, having just purchased a new Sony Xperia tablet 'cause I love the look and feel of the device and the screen quality, I find I need to disable not only a dozen or so Android Apps I will never use but also around the same number of Sony Apps that sometimes duplicate the Google versions! There is no way to delete them to free up some memory and they are sending daily messages instructing me to update with new functionality (whatever that means) and bug fixes (probably okay but don't need them if never using the App). They are regularly asking for new permissions - why does Booking.com need access to my camera!! Just encourages me to uninstall - when I can.

Just looking at Trip Advisor, that I have found most useful for research but now find a 'Just for You' recommendation. How can a computer know what I want when I am not even a member and have cookies turned off? It does not appear to give me every listing anymore and since I go to the Hotel website to make the booking, they cannot have a history of my previous travels. Worse, the 'just for you' contains nothing I am even interested in but cannot find how to turn it off. I know they must get me to engage and book something thru them but why do that and pay 10-15% premium over any above the Hotel rates? I guess they should not have offered it for free in the first instance.

That's but one example. I have great fun unsubscribing to emails once they have my details, I have set the spam filter so that anything I do not like I rarely see except when checking before deleting everything. I also enjoy uninstalling Apps when they make life too complicated. I might be old fashioned but much prefer making my own decisions not have a computer try to second guess me.

Who else is feeling bloated with apps and software updates that just complicate a perfectly good service!

Welcome to the future.

I only have a few apps on my phone and the updates are endless.

The one I hate is Samsung security. Every couple of days it keeps asking me to turn on auto updates but that I may be charged by my provider. Yeah right. I decline then a couple of days later up comes the notification again. Decline again and again.
