I heard that when a plane goes us there are 2 pimply faced 18 year olds with a cert II in IT and a couple of computers to fix the problem.

The flow on effect can be enormous

Pilots are not where they are supposed to be and Pilots waiting for a plane that does not arrive etc

Although it may sometimes feel that I can assure you that there is highly complex (and expensive) departure control and crew management software that does the re-calculation. It may be being operated by a couple of pimply youths, though..... As for the pilots waiting for planes or vice versa, yes, that is what happens when there are chain dependencies that are interrupted by unforseen events......
