Welcome, there are a few companies around offering discounted premium travel, ask them if your fare earns points, my guess is no, so they are likely to be buying points and selling the fares at a considerable profit, whereas a little research here on a few threads will allow you to book same fares with a little effort and a lot less cash.

There are no points and yes - they buy ff points.

Where do I look on this site (still not familiar with the layout etc.)

AA have a very good bonus for January that will end tomorrow our time, and offer the option to book online, their award chart covers some nice J options locally as NZ is included as part of Australia, but they do limit how much you can purchase in a year, so it takes some planning for long haul:
