On the B747 from DFW-BNE last week I was exploring the various features of the IFE and stumbled across "Communications" as a top level option. This took me to a screen offering "Webmail" access to a range of POP email services, presumably which would allow me to access my email box.

Following this option opened up a browser which failed to open the intended website. Eventually the browser times out unable to access the website.

At this point, there is no way to back out of the screen and the IFE needs to be restarted by the crew.

I do recall seeing it about a year ago with similar results. I thought by now it might have been working or removed.

Has anyone else found this rather inconvenient option? Any ideas of the background or likely enhancement date?

Interesting find. I have never noticed that option but then again I have no need for Webmail while I am on a flight.
