IF US booking - 24 Hours to cancel?

MY brother tells me there is a 24 hour refund policy for booked US airfares that the airlines dont advertise, at least for US citizens. So I could rock up to SYD have my rat test, and eith go or ring and get full refund. Beats travel insurance, if correct. Is this true?

Nice try - the 24 hour rule applies in US points of sale or ex-US only and only >= 7 days from departure.
