Over the years there seems to be more and more cases of 'idiots' who travel that cause problems. Generally people who do stupid things that get them noted in the news. So in light of this, I thought that I would start a thread to collect all these stories in one place for all us who are able to travel without causing problems.

I found two incidents today -

Man arrested in WA after flight disruption

Qantas says a man has been arrested after causing a disturbance on a flight from Perth to Brisbane.

Traveller saves Aussie teetering on ledge at Bali airport

A traveller has tackled an Australian man to safety after he climbed onto a balcony at a Bali airport and teetered on the edge of a 25-metre ledge.

Let the head shaking begin :)

Arrived at LAX and after landing, while still taxiing, a pax grabbed his overhead bags and stood in front of the exit door. While we were still taxiing.

FA announced he was to sit down, he didnt move. Pilot announced he was to sit down, he didnt move. Pilot stopped the plane (not on the runway but just as we turned off it) and announced that he either sits down or we wait till the police board. Other pax started yelling at him to sit down.

He finally sat down.

We were one of the first out of the plane so dont know if anything happened to him but the FA was on the phone as we made our way to the gate.

Did he look like he came from one of the countries with >1billion inhabitants? This sort of behaviour is not uncommon in those two countries...

We had one of those at DFW once, I think she ended up leaving her carry-on in the aisle by the time the FA had gotten her to get back in her seat. IIRC she was concerned about making her connection.

Witnessed this on EK flight BKK-HKG last month. The aircraft was still taxiing to gate where 2 people had already grabbed their carry-on and were standing at the galley waiting to disembark. FAs did absolutely nothing.

More details on this incident below -

'Everyone was pretty cranky': 'Drunk' passenger causes flight U-turn to Perth

A passenger who was on the flight but doesn't want to be named, said the man appeared intoxicated before the flight even left Perth. "He was caught with some of his own booze which was taken off him," he told WAtoday.

I read that over the weekend and my first thought - wonder how much coverage would have cost given his fondness for extreme sports. I guess some would take the risk and throw caution to the wind.... particular if you no fear!
Yes I had those thoughts too. It would have been much cheaper to crowd fund his insurance rather than his recovery:mad:. I don't understand this "go fund me" thing- there seems to have been cases around here where funding has been started without consultation with the family/victim & no regard to whether insurances were in place or the family had there own resources available

The issue has been around for many years. Right back, adventurers in strife either rescued themselves, or their buddies rescued them, or they perished. Remember the funding debate when Tony Bullimore turned turtle? Admittedly, for many extreme adventurers, insurance (if available at all) would be beyond reach, so what's the alternative? Stop all adventurers? Let them die? It's a hard question to answer.
