How much for a taxi from ICN airport to Seoul? I'm staying at COEX.

How long will it take??

Is traffic bad in seoul?

Is it like japan where its far too expensive to take a taxi and much better to take the airport limo buses?

thanks

Hi,

Don't know about taxi, i take the limo bus, just line up outside, cheap ! and really comfortable, different busses go to hotels.

A taxi from ICN to COEX will cost well over $100 and take at least 90 minutes depending on traffic.

The limousine shuttle buses run by Korean Airlines will cost you about $20 one way.

The shuttles run very frequently throughout the day they leave from the arrivals level at the airport.

The hotels that each shuttle stops at are listed on a sign next to the stop they leave from.

There is a shuttle that runs to hotels in the COEX area

In peak times (most of the day) it can be really slow getting into or out of the city. OTOH I have had trips take just under an hour before, but was lucky.

I take the bus - less stressful with no meter to worry about.

i'm ok with taking the limo bus when i arrive.

but my departing flight leaves at 08:25 at ICN on a Saturday morning. What time do i need to leave the hotel?? It's looking like a uncivilised hour!!!!

The Koreans are considered the Italians of Asia, if that gives you an idea of the drivers/ traffic. Another recommendation for the bus; it can take anywhere from 1.25-2hours IME depending on traffic conditions (not necessarily time of day, as even around 10pm traffic can be horrendous). Check with your hotel who can recommend the best time for you to depart. For future reference, there's another (more convenient) airport in-town accessible by subway, which I've used for travelling e.g. Seoul to Tokyo.

Yeah need to leave fairly early for a flight at that time. IIRC the buses do start very early (I've taken them for similar flight departure time) and traffic is better if you take the first bus.

The other airport is Gimpo (GMP) which is mainly domestic, plus a few shorthaul flights. No longhaul.

With both Seoul and Tokyo having 2 main airports and lots of passengers between the cities both O&D and connecting, IIRC there are 4 route options between them ICN-NRT, ICN-HND, GMP-NRT and GMP-HND.

ummmm so if it takes anywhere up to 2 hours to get to the airport, its looking like i need to depart by 5.30am, just to get to the airport by 7.30am!!!

argggggh

I may be completely wrong, but from memory I left city at 6am (first bus) and arrived in time for flight around 0800/0830 (again from memory). I've done this a couple of times.
