Apologies if this has been posted previously, however in a letter to employees a few days ago, it was announced that the InterContinental & Holiday Inn Perth Burswood would be changing their names in 2012 (as follows):

InterContinental Perth Burswood - Crown Metropol Perth
Holiday Inn Perth Burswood - Crown Promenade Perth

The name change could occur as early as July 2012, however discussions are still occurring with IHG.

Burswood Entertainment Complex at the time of the changeover will become Crown Perth.

Once again this has probably been known for some time, however it now appears something there's something concrete ref the complex's future finally.

Thanks

I wonder if that means they are leaving IHG, or act as an affiliated hotel like in Vegas?

Cannot say it will be a great loss, PER has always been the poorest offering of the ICs in Australia, although it does drop them back to 3 in number now.

Damn, only leaves CP Perth and HI City Centre for matress runs, or finding cheaper rates.

Interesting to see that the Crown brand is expanding outside of Melbourne.

Crown Perth rebrand
BURSWOOD Entertainment
Complex has confirmed its official
rebrand to Crown Perth (TD 16
Dec) will occur in Sep this year.
The firm has also announced
this week that the Holiday Inn
Perth Burswood will become
Crown Promenade Perth on 20
Jun, while InterContinental Perth
Burswood will be rebranded as
Crown Metropol Perth on 27 Jun.

Will be sad to see it leave IHG- was nice enjoying ambassador benefits at the IC..

Yes, the IC commitment to Australia seems sub-par of recent times.

Wish they'd build a few more properties. You''d think Perth of all places would have the demand.

It's doubled in the past three years from two to four, now going back one, but at least you can still qual for RA without going OS which needs three separate hotels.

I stayed at Burswood on the last night it was Burswood. The next day, I woke up and, voila, InterCon. It's a great opportunity to pick up some souvenir memorobilia on the cheap. When I checked out I asked about the bathrobes. They were $100 a piece. When I suggested they'd have to get rid of them as they were no longer simply 'Burswood', I got two for the price of one!

Interestingly, the IHG website still has both properties available under their existing brands beyond 20 and 27 June.

There goes dinner at the IC Perth when it is my turn to cook! I just use Priority Privilege card for Sydney and Perth dining.
Perth will be kaput in about a week so that will leave Sydney......of course that is lovely.
