Arriving from TPE on Eva ~20:20; departing for MEL on Virgin next day ~07:55. There are decent-looking hotels off-site for maybe ~$80 less, but I might save a lot of that on Uber fares?

I’ve stayed at the Ibis and it’s perfectly decent — maybe a little above average for an Ibis. My room was quiet and of a good size for an Ibis, the view of the airport was nice, the restaurant downstairs is pretty good, and it’s walking distance from the airport. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Having said that, Brisbane airport has a train station attached to it so if you can find somewhere on the rail line you might not need to pay for your Uber after all ;)

If you factor in return ubers it may well, make sense to stay there if you get a decent rate. They have been charging a premium of late but it's normally good value. As @Human says, it is better than your average ibis and only a 10-minute stroll from the Dom terminal. There is also a Novotel in the precinct down next to the DFO, but it's rarely well priced for where it is in comparison to the ibis/Pullman..

. Given processing time you should be out of terminal by midnight.
From international you will need to take taxi or shuttle to any of the hotels
You will need to be at Dom Terminal before 7 I suppose for check in and bag drop so ibis and Pullman are about 8min walk. We did it tonight in about 9 amd escalator not working

Check the airtrain timetable as I don't think it operates that late (welcome to Brisbane). The free inter terminal bus might still be operating to get you to the domestic terminal (which the ibis is near) if you get stuck but check the timetable, I think it's infrequent.
For me, a big big + is not to have to be reliant on any transport (8 min walk) for your morning domestic flight.
