I have flown twice with Iberia. In both cases, business class seating was 3 x 3. In other words, as cosy as economy except for slightly more legroom. Does anyone know if all their cabin configurations are like this? I am thinking of flying MAD to CCS - their seat map shows 2 x 2 x 2, but I wonder...

Ive flown them into MAD a few times. either MD80 out of Frankfurt or A320 out of LHR and always 3 x 3 but never with anyone in the centre.

Iberia is one of my favourite OW airlines - up there with AA.

Yes I am being sarcastic

MAD has a fantastic new terminal though which opened recently. Train rides and everything.

Flying from MAD to CCS with Iberia you will be on an International Configured plane. These are in the process of being upgraded to a fla bed product in Business Class.

Here is a link to their Business Plus information:

Whilst I am not 100% sure if the CCS flights are on reconfigured planes, I do remember reading somewhere recently that the flight is being upgraded to a A340-600 due to the popularity of the flight (I believe it was the Iberia inflight magazine).

In terms of European flights, IB Business Class is the same as economy, except that IB no guarantee to block the middle seat. Plus you get a free meal, as opposed to the Buy on Board of economy.

I recently flew IB Economy in Europe and was suprised by how good the service was, considering the amount of Iberia Bashing out there.

As Duffshot said, Iberia (and all oneworld airlines) now operate out of the new Terminal 4 and 4S, which is an amazing new terminal!

Pretty much all intra-europe business class is the same as economy seat with middle seat blocked where possible. Exceptions I'm aware of are some AF a/c and also the longhaul tag flights (eg RG and SQ).

Think of the difference between a QF 737-400 domestic flight and a QF 767 international flight.

Yeah but don't expect anything anywhere near as good as a QF J (or Y for that matter) except for the blocked seat beside you. I'll take the QF product everytime. In fact I'd prefer to travel QF Y with status than IB J. domestically.

QF gets a lot of bashing but is rarely compared aplles to apples on it's domestic service. We are spoilt rotten and comparisons to IB are a good example. Don't expect a decent seat pitch, meal, entertainment etc etc and the aircraft will be nowhere near as good as anything Qantas use. We are spoilt in Oz and while we do pay more for it generally, I'm more than happy to.

Thankfully there are few IB domestic routes, and I have no need to fly domestically within Spain. But if I did, I would also note little opportunity to use QF in any class for that flight.

Sounds like you are comparing QF with AA's domestic operations :p (at least in the back cabin.

I've only had a couple of IB flights, and I didnt think it was too bad really. Better food and drink than the equivalent QF flight - okay IFE was wierd with bulkhead screen but no headsets, but at least no Kath & Kim to endure :D , seat was comfy.

My experience is they are very similar to AA standards front and back. I haven't used either of them for long haul though
