The world's airlines had a lot to celebrate in 2013, including record passenger demand, according to year-end statistics from theInternational Air Transport Association. Traffic results for 2013 showed a 5.2 percent increase in passenger demand compared to 2012, while capacity rose 4.8 percent and load factor averaged 79.5 percent.
International passenger demand grew by 5.4% in 2013 compared to 2012 with all regions reporting growth. Capacity rose 4.9%, boosting load factor to 79.3%, up 0.4 percentage points over 2012. Leading the way in growth was Middle East carriers, which posted a rise of 12.1 percent compared to 2012, fueled by economic growth in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. But North American carriers reported the slowest passenger growth of any region in 2013, reaching only 3 percent compared to 2012.

Thanks markis10.

Load factor %s are interesting: Oz much the same as most regions in the mid 70's; USA highest at low-mid 80's (that surprises me) and Japan in the low 60's ! Ouch!

Complimentary data on trends on fares would be illuminating - is growth / comparative growth tied to trends in fares?
