I might hold off on taking delivery of my 747 for a while.

A real shame this aircraft is disappearing.

Flying is not quite same in A330s and 777s. The A380 is OK but on limited routes.

Agree 100%... Whilst don't get me wrong, I don't mind flying in an A330 or a 777, they don't invoke the same sort of emotions from me as a 747 can...
I'm still clinging on to the hope that airlines around the world will change their mind on the 748i and the 747 will return to it's once former glory as "the" aircraft for OS flights...
 
Qantas should trade in their A380's for 748's (better cargo capacity) :p

This would certainly ensure my loyalty to the red roo... The A380 is a nice enough aircraft to fly on, but they don't have the look of a 747....

Would Boeing take 12 slightly used A380s as payment for at least 12 new 748s?

It wouldn't be unprecedented, Boeing bought five A340s from China Eastern as part of a 777 sales deal a couple years ago.
