After some cancellations from a few weeks ago trickling in I now have more than $4,999 in Travelbank despite the Virgin website saying that is the maximum and their terms and conditions saying the excess over $4,999 would be provided in “another form”.

Anyone else have something similar?

Wow, were they from business class bookings just for yourself or with others?

Wow... You would’ve to pray really hard for VA to survive on the other side of the crisis to use the TB balance. Good luck

Wow. That’s a lot.

You couldn’t do a charge back?

As an aside most credit card companies are not permitting chargebacks for Covid-19. May vary from bank or card issuer and even then from person to person, but this is the general trend so far.

Thanks for the support 🤗

It was a combination of family holiday for Easter and work travel.

Have another family holiday booked to NZ in October which may or may not happen obviously!

You're winning. I will end up with about $2000 including the non cancelled ones (yet). Just for little ol' me on economy flights...

As I have already quoted in other thread , what will happen to travel bank credits if VA were to go into administration ?

I guess you would become an unsecured creditor?

Perhaps a credit card chargeback may be possible in that situation, but I'm only speculating and, thankfully, it's only hypothetical at this point.

How do travel banks work for third party bookings? I booked via ANZ Travel and the flight to DRW in June is cancelled, will I get a travel credit to use online or will it still be linked to ANZ Travel and any future changes will still go through them?

Who are the credit card providers going to charge back to if there's no account?

It actually falls under your credit card travel insurance policy in the event of travel provider insolvency, so the amount is covered by insurance - however there is usually an excess for this type of claim.

Good question. I would hope it would be directly with VA as I wouldn’t want a third party to potentially charge me again for using my credit.

I called ANZ Travel and they put the ticket into credit, but ANZ Travel retains control over the ticket so I have to call them to book the flights later, not ideal. ie. you can't convert it into a VA travel bank.
