I’ve heard of cases in the past of chargebacks and they threatened to cancel the Velocity account and bar from flying also.

The administrator said they ‘strongly encouraged’ any buyer to maintain all vouchers, credits etc.

If push comes to shove, they don’t need to honour the lot, would be a PR disaster, but I guess that’s a last resort.

So yes I would probably book a flight rather than have it sitting there

I originally posted below on another thread, but realised it's probably most relevant in this thread --- I contacted AMEX online travel about 1 month ago (which is who the flights were booked through) who recommended that I take the credit, so that I wouldn't be a 'no show' when rescheduled flights occurred a few days later; I then instigated a charge-back, which was initially accepted by AMEX, and has now been rejected (as they were originally non-refundable) --- I heard from Customer Relations who said that If the airline cannot honour the travel credits in future, then a (charge-back) dispute will be possible at that time.

According to this post VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else), it appears chargebacks aren't necessarily going to be successful.
I took some comfort from AMEX's reply that IF the travel credits are not able to be utilised (due to VA administration), I would be able to re-institute a charge-back at that time. I guess there's also travel insurance as well (as my flights were booked pre the known event), although I'm sure someone posted that travel insurance might not apply in this instance?

Anyone know if you can initiate a chargeback even if you have subsequently closed the credit card account with which the flights were purchased?

There is an update on conditional credits - Virgin Australia will provide customers with a new credit to the value of travel credit balances for bookings made prior to the commencement of the voluntary administration period, including customers with Conditional Credits. Future Flight credits will be available for booking flights up to 31 July 2022 with travel valid until 30 June 2023.

I had whittled my travel bank down around $2k when some borders reopened, but that has now stopped again.

A trip to NZ booked pre-COVID has been cancelled by VA but that’s gone to conditional credits rather than travel bank.
