Hi just looking for some advice, big fan of Qantas lately and trying to book / fly them as much as possible for points / status etc. I have recently found Emirates Flex Economy flights (on Qantas planes) cheaper then the Qantas basic fare. Will QF match this?

Thanks

No they won't. If it's cheaper through EK then book through EK. Be aware though they do their credit card processing offshore which depending on your credit card might mean another 3% or so in FCC fees.

You also won't get Qantas status credits unless booked on a QF flight number.

you may also have trouble upgrading with QF points if it's on an EK ticket, even if it is QF metal - not sure, haven't tried it, but maybe something to keep in mind. That said you can always ask EK at the counter for an upgrade, sometimes they sell it for a fee, not cheap but way cheaper than booking business outright.

You can only upgrade using QF points if the flight is both marketed and operated by QF.

I always book foreign airlines with 28Degrees MC to avoid being stung with that.

Some airlines (MH comes to mind) charge from an AU merchant for visa/mc, but a foreign merchant for amex cards. Even though it might show as AU on a mastercard it's no guarantee it'll be from an AU merchant should you try an amex.
