HSBC Facial Recognition for Approval

Have just applied for an HSBC card and part of the application process was to take a pic of your DL/passport but also to take a pic of your face (front and side). Fairly straightforward but wonder whether it will become part of the ID process on managing the account

I can confirm this has been part of the application process for several years. Not used for other purposes that I am aware of. And from memory it failed for me.
