Well for me it would be business / first class, everywhere I went.

It would not be 1 day car hire from Europcar, that's for sure :p

Suggest their IT folks need to do a bit of work implementing unsigned 32 bit integers and to detect unsigned integer overflows.

What's this 32 bit stuff? .That's so 2003.

Software C stuff, not hardware. 32 bit unsigned integers are as big as I know they can be. The firmware I write uses 64 bit floating point double precision reals and detects overflows and underflows.

Yes, I totally understand what you just said :D

Bigint's (or Int64's) are the future :p

bigint
Integer (whole number) data from -2^63 (-9,223,372,036,854,775,808) through 2^63-1 (9,223,372,036,854,775,807). Storage size is 8 bytes.

What and you expect that I do? Starting on the next bottle of Shiraz and wondering at the smile on Dixon's face as Ticki asked him about the QF equity buyout rumour........

Sounds good but I'm an old fart and still use 24 bit ints but love 64 bit reals. I write firmware on MicroChip 24F/H micros so memory resources are limited.

Has Europcar been taken over by Dr Evil?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

So is the theory that the value has overflowed and it should actually be more than 5 billion points (assuming 32 bit unsigned integers) or underflowed and they should pay you to redeem?

Car hire aside is it possible to spend 1 billion points on flights? Even in a lifetime?

Assuming a return to Europe for 2 people in first class is ~1,000,000 points that is a lot of trips before one can even make a small dent in the points balance.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can redeem points on Virgin Galactic for space trips? Or was that just marketing hype?

I don't know. I thought it was just marketing hype.

Have you seen anyone redeem points in that one to two million range on an Any Seat one way?
It would take more than 500 of those so at least 250 trips! Or of course you could do a one day car hire with you know who.

Yeah, I don't think it would be possible but would have fun flying first class with all of my friends :)

I don't know, but I'd love to give it a go .. :p

Does "any seat, any airline" apply to carriers that offer a private jet service? :D  :D

I may never do it, but I have seen over a million being asked for a business class from Dammam to Sydney in this coming December, it is 1.2 million that was :( (the real deal was like 100,000 points I believe) :)

oh that was on Etihad site. I was looking the possibility of getting a "free" ticket for my girls since I have so much points and never used them, apparently my point was not "much" enough LOL

Does this mean the techno babble is over ?

I actually understood the last few posts.
