Hi All

I am looking for itinerary suggestions for my mother. She is early 70's and suffers arthritis, so hoping to break a flight from Perth to LA into three sectors to rest and recuperate. Where is it best to have stopovers? She is in to food and particulalry Asian food, but is open to stopovers anywhere.

She also usualy goes to NY on these trips, so itineraries of Perth to NY are also welcome.

I am advising her of how to buy points to use for her flights in business class so advice on the best way to do that would also be most appreciated.

Looking to travel around April, but flexible on times/dates.

She is otherwise healthy and active.

Thanks so much!

CX might be a good option to NY with a stop in HKG and YVR. An option to LAX in three sectors could be via HNL.

Quite a few options here! Just a few that come to mind...

PER-SYD-NAN-LAX (QF/FJ)
PER-SIN-NRT-LAX (SQ)
PER-SIN-ICN-LAX (SQ)

And to New York...
PER-DXB-MXP-JFK (EK)
PER-SIN-NRT-JFK (QF or SQ/JL)
PER-MEL-SCL-JFK (QF/LA)
PER-AKL-EZE-JFK (NZ/AA)
PER-JNB-ACC-JFK (SA/DL)
PER-AUH-TXL-JFK (EY/AB)

I'm sure there are many other combinations.

If you want to buy miles and fly there in J, with 2 stopovers, I would probably look at booking the following tickets:
1. PER-SIN in ScootBiz (one-way paid ticket - or redeem miles to fly QF/SQ)
2. SIN-NRT-KUL using AS miles to fly Japan Airlines in J, with a long stopover in Tokyo while she travels to the USA and back (costs 25K miles in total plus $57 taxes)
3. NRT-LAX (or NRT-JFK) return using American Airlines miles to fly Japan Airlines in J (cost is 120K AA miles return for J plus minimal tax)
4. KUL-PER on a cheap one-way Air Asia or Malindo Air J ticket (or redeem miles to fly MH)

That way she would fly there via Singapore and Tokyo, returning via Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur. She can stop as long as she likes in each city as these flights would all be on different tickets. She'd also get a great deal on Business class flights.

Maybe purchasing Alaska Miles and travelling on CX. Would one stopover in HKG be adquate if she's flying in J? Otherwise you could fly PER/HKG/YVR/JFK all on CX but not sure if you can stop twice on a J award.

The one option which could be interesting is via SE Asia and then Europe before heading to USA.

Mum is now 73 and has been telling my wife she'd like to go back to Greece one more time. Not as far as USA but still quite a distance. I now have close to 180,000 UA MileagePlus miles I was going to use for wife and I to go back to Thailand but think I should not be a cheapskate and treat mum to business class to Greece. Maybe even stopover in Thailand to meet in laws? There's a thought.

Fan of the CX Perth - HK - US route, have stopped in YVR and directly to NY. Found the direct to NY a long leg even in J.

See, all of this is awesome, and it's why I knew to ask here... YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

thx!
