How to upgrade VFF business class on Ethiad metal international flight?

Hi all,

Used VFF points to get business class flights to Amsterdam on Ethiad metal.( booked in VA website)
I thought I read in a recent post you can upgrade to First using points...... How is this possible please?
How do you find out the cost and what is the steps to do it?

This was booked pre Ethiad tax/points increase..... So would upgrading incur the new fees using VFF points?

I dont think this is possible. One, you can't use VFF points to upgrade on Etihad. Unless of course you wanted to cancel the booking and rebook in the higher class....

Agree with Blackcat20. Your only option is to cancel the existing booking and rebook yourself into F. You will also need to pay the new redemption rate plus USD$300 as you are changing cabin class. This fees is not applicable if only date and time change on the same cabin. Not forgetting AUD$60 for VA change fees.

Thanks for confirming what I thought.
Should I have looked when I booked on virgin site...... Also looked at Ethiad site to use VA points for a first class VA FF points ticket?
Or do I have to convert vaff to Ethiad FF points to book a Ethiad FF seat in first class?

Did you mean how to look/ book an EY F?

If so, you will need to check F availability on EY website and call VA to book. You cannot book this through the VA website as it only show Y and J class. You'll have to use your VA points for booking as point transfer option from VA to EY is not available (only from VA to SQ).

Total distance between BNE-AMS via AUH is 10,691miles. Points required/ person for F oneway is 203,000 VA points + $600 + tax.

EY redemption pre points & additional charges are good value. Questionable now; charges per sector sting.

You will have access to Air NZ lounge in BNE. The business suite is a good product on the 787. The other option for F is to depart from SYD or MEL and aim for the A380. You'll have better lounge and seat.
