How to redress being bumped off flight Tehran - BKK.Advice needed.

Have confirmed ticket Tehra MCT BKK issued 28 Feb. Today received email saying overbooked and replacement flight not suitable as have meetings in.BKK at 0800 and 1200. Spoken nicely to Oman staff and obviously higher authorities have made decision. Is there any avenue of appeal or room for negotiation?
Offered to go to Y but that is a no no.
Have to be back in MEL by Monday due to family.commitment. Thanks in advice.
 
What class was your original ticket? J? And did they explain why a Y downgrade is a no-no, because they've oversold those as well?
 
Who did you purchase the ticket from? The airline or a TA? If the latter seek their assistance for another suitable flight even if on a different airline.

Given the importance of the flight it behoves you to identify another suitable flight and ask to be moved or even book the flight yourself and seek a refund of the original flight.

I purchased ticket business class directly from Oman in SYD office. Confirmed on Feb 28th. This morning received email out of blue confirming that I am now leaving Tehran 5 hrs later and flying Qatar, arriving BKK at 12.45 p.m.
Not happy as think 737 J Class may be inferior to Oman as am too short to climb over anyone to go to lavatory. Anyone able to clarify this?

I have spoken to staff in Tehran and Sydney who have been kind but seemingly unable to change situation. SYD staff have emailed airport manager in Tehran as well as Tehran office.

Seems Emirates and Qatar are only options. If anyone has other suggestions please let me know.

I dunno what redress Iran has in terms of airline passenger rights! But certainly having purchased the ticket in Australia you should be entitled to a full refund if the flights have moved by 5 hours and are no longer suitable for purpose.

It may leave you out of pocket having to buy another ticket on another carrier, although perhaps contact your insurance company to ask if they will cover some costs (slim chance but worth a try).

It is a bother gor me. Have managed to change QR inferior J class seating into later flight to BKK on 787 which be infinitely more comfy with great staff service in cabin.. Stop over will be 4 hrs but hear lounge has family rooms for naps. Lesson learnt a negotiate to get best deal. Do not accept receipt new ticket of email ticketing another airline
