I have 55K AVIOS expiring within 5 months...been keeping them for a rainy day :) Apart from redeeming a QF flight or buying AVIOS, any suggestions for an easy and cheap way to keep my AVIOS from expring? thanks

Paging @Flashback

I just checked and I've got 35,000 but can't see when they expire.

Can you transfer them to someone else without a fee - I find AA very annoying that you have to pay to transfer them to someone else

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

A quick way is just to buy some more avios.

VPS - avios expire after three years if there's been no activity on the account. Dunno if that's been extended due to covid, but that's the defualt position I'm working to.

Are they sitting in BA or Avios.com ? Also, if you're tracking the account in AwardWallet, that should show the expiry date.

Book a reward flight with low taxes (e.g. something in the US) then FTV it.

Mattress run at an earning property or VPN and buy something that earns avios via the e-store?

Airbnb booking (if you need to book anyway), otherwise book the closest available shorthaul flight out of LGW and then wait....... if it gets cancelled, Avios refunded back and you have the booking activity plus redeposit activity. If it doesn't get cancelled, just FTV it and then you have to make another booking by April 2023.

Missed the boat (for the short term anyway), all flights up till Oct now cancelled and moved to LHR. If a LGW flight had of been booked, you would have been sorted!

I had some orphaned Marriot points which was enough for 1000 Avios. Then I used 36k Avios for 2 x BNE-NFL-BNE tickets so one less program to worry about!

FYI I TFd 4500 Amex MR points to become 3000 Marriott Bonvoy points which I then TF for 1000 Avios with new expiry date of 3 years. :) ....took about 3 days all up. Would have preferred to book a Qf award flight but us Sydneysiders are banned from going anywhere indefinitely :(

I recently discovered that one can earn avios by booking accommodation with booking.com.

Why didn't I know this long ago?

And it actually doesn't seem to increase the price. Problem solved...

Extremely poor Avios value through Booking.com
Well, actually, with BA's current promo, I don't think so.

I wouldn't call 485 avios for a $89.10 spend too shabby. That's what I got from a recent booking.com hotel booking in Australia.

Better than flying BA as a Gold BAEC member!

I transferred in some Marriott points which I think will reset the clock but cant actually see my expiry date. Any clues on where you can see this?
