Advice please, my daughter has just booked a club room at the Grand Hyatt HKG for a pseudo honeymoon. I'd like to surprise her with a honeymoon suite, what's my chances? Anyone have the name of the person I need to talk to please?
PS, she has no status.

Bumping this up for any advice on how to get a nice surprise for my kids pseudo honeymoon? Or, should they just mention it at check in?

Call the hotel up? ask for the manager? tell them you want to do this? pay the upgrade...ask for a discount?

I'd suggest that you just contact the hotel directly (either via phone or email) and give them the details.

There isn't a compelling reason for the hotel to give out these kind of upgrades for free (especially with no status, etc), but you may get lucky, and hotels often do try to do special things for big occasions, even if it's not the biggest / best suite.

Thanks, I'll just give them a call and mention it - just thought if anyone had the manager's name. She hasn't had time to build up status as yet.

All the usual stuff apart from the white lace mentioned in the Carpenters song:

We've only just begun to live
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way
(We've only begun)
Before the risin' sun, we fly
So many roads to choose
We'll start out walkin' and learn to run
(And yes, we've just begun)
Sharing horizons that are new to us
Watching the signs along the way
Talkin' it over, just the two of us
Workin' together day to day
Together
And when the evening comes, we smile
So much of life ahead
We'll find a place where there's room to grow
(And yes, we've just begun)

Maybe if you arrange for a Globalist to replace the booking with a Guest of Honor award booking, they'll have access to all Globalist benefits including 4pm check out, lounge access, room upgrade etc.

Even then there's no guarantee of a 'honeymoon' suite as the room upgrades are limited to 'standard suites'.

Thanks serfty, perhaps there is a Globalist on here that might make contact with me. They actually booked a lounge access room and have an early flight out anyway. But, a nice suite with a view would the icing.

If pre-paid then it may be too late. Can you message me the booking date and I can have a look.

(Note that the points cost can be rather high at that property.)

Serfty, thanks for your kind offer. She has prepaid apparently so it sounds like we just let it stand as is.

It is a nice thought. But if the guests have no status and (I'm speculating) no past or future relationship with the hotel, seems a bit unfair to the hotel and regular/high status guests to play the 'special occasion' card, even if genuine.

I'd try to find a way to pay outright for a guaranteed upgrade. Then they'll know it's because of you.

Otherwise I agree, advise them on check-in or in response to any welcome text or email to say it's a honeymoon stay and see what happens.

They booked it themselves and it was just a thought on my part, not wishing to take anything away from higher status people.

They’re just starting out to build loyalty.

If they booked it themselves directly with the Hotel or Hyatt then (at the rate that place charges for such a room), they'll go a long way towards getting status.

Yes, they did book it direct, and this morning I saw the price it was extremely expensive, much more than the figure that you mentioned in yr PM! Good prospective future customers.

Well, I have now heard of a globalist and that it's actually cheaper to buy points (with a certain access) than pay for the room. :)

That was the cost of buying the 125000 points needed for the award stay.
