How to get 5,000 Velocity Points in less than 2 weeks?

Hi all,

I am just short of points for flights I need to take in around 2 weeks (5,000 points). My brother was going to transfer points from his Amplify card to his Velocity and then do a Family Transfer for the 5,000 I am short. HOWEVER, his wallet was stolen yesterday so all his accounts have been frozen! Not sure if it will be possible for him now to make the transfer in time.

Any tips to get the points any other way in the short time frame?

On a side note - just checked and I do have enough Hhonor points to be able to transfer if need be (had planned to use these for something else). How long do they usually take to transfer if worse comes to worse?

Last time I did a HHonors transfer, took about 3 days

SPG are also a transfer partner and you can buy points from them.

If you have amex MR account they will sometimes sell you batches of points to top off an account for an award.

Do VA sell top up points?

I can't see how the accounts/cards being frozen will impact transfer of points.
