Im flying J rewards on QF in august (and will be losing Gold status but retaining PC+) from BKK to Sydney.
My father and Partner are flying both on QF too with no status.

I note QF partner is now airfrance and i am only allowed to take in 1 guest.
I also see i cannot bring anyone into Qatar except myself.
I also have dragon pass on my CBA which entitles me to 2 entries to miracle lounge but its 32 usd for an extra guest.

How do i wing this without paying or splitting everyone up? My father is in his 80s but im not sure theres any age related loop holes which can be had.
If i had to pay id rather pay to enter a proper lounge instead of miracle but will do if i have to.

Lets not approach the dilemma about giving up my J seat to my father which im working through mentally.

TBH, in the wake of BKK booting out lounges other than its own from Priority Pass/Dragonpass, your best bet is to burn off your two Dragonpass entries on a Coral or Miracle lounge and pay for one more admission. It's a shame that the BKK airport authorities decided to be a***holes, as the Air France lounge was pretty good (but, it must be stressed, not amazing).

(And next time, if you're on QF transit through SIN as you can easily acquire single use passes to top up your 2 person entitlement.)

If you are giving up your J seat to your father, I would expect you would have to do a name change to do this? The dilemma then is, he will have access to the lounge, but not you.

The OP should be able to get into the Air France lounge as a Gold or QP. Also worth noting name changes are only possible up to 24 hours before (and they'd need a ticket themselves, given paid fares don't permit name changes).

People in the same family can switch seats without doing name changes - done that quite a few times now on EK and QF
I’d just get onboard and sit him or you in the J seat

What is deemed the best lounge out near Qantas gate G? Ive only ever been to the one right near the gates.

This isn't about which seat on the plane is taken by what person, but rather what lounge access there is beforehand.

If the OP keeps their ticket, they'd be able to get one person into Qatar (and maybe Oman) by virtue of flying J, two people into Air France (by virtue of SG/QP status) or two people into Miracle/Coral (through Dragonpass). But not 3 people. To do that, they'd need to pay for Miracle/Coral for one person and burn off their other entitlements (or maybe 2 - not exactly sure of the rules around burning entitlements).

If the OP wants to change their ticket to give their dad the J reward, they'd need to cancel their dad's existing ticket and buy another fare themselves (as they couldn't be changed onto their dad's ticket). This is far more expensive than paying to access Miracle/Coral.

No - you need a J ticket for Qatar's BKK and SIN lounges (it's an exception to the usual J lounge rules).

(There's also a CX lounge where you can get 1 guest in flying J... probably...)
