How to find Aeroplan flights

The only option I can see now at the edge of the booking window is SYD-HND-FRA for 1 seats so for 2 travellers you can book and travel one day apart - which isn' t great but it is a way to use up one's AC stash. There's also PER-MRU (JNB) - CDG or other city AIR Mauritius flies to but I would not book that myself - too convoluted IMO.

Apparently Air India are bringing in their new business class on the Australian routes next year so it'll possible to do a trip to London with the newer planes. There is one seat on lots of dates with Aeroplan but very rarely two seats.

My better judgement advises me against it but Lucky raved about it so I may be tempted...

Looking out to Oct/Nov 2026 (ie when the calendar opens up) the only SQ J availability on Aeroplan out of East coast Australia (SYD/MEL/BNE/ADL) to SIN is SQ248 from MEL. Leavings 0555/0655 from MEL and arrives 1145.

A number of days there's availability on Velocity out of BNE/ADL but not on Aeroplan. This seems to suggest SQ are throttling availability specifically to Aeroplan.

There is zero availability from SIN to E coast Australia over this period. It's completely disappeared.

Had to book with Velocity due to the disappearance on Aeroplan.

I called the Aeroplan to change a flight in my itinerary to the one departing earlier. They asked additional 35,000 points for this change of my flexible reward ticket - still same travel date and distance but it would cost me more points.
  • Same Route: BUD-ZRH-LIS (stopover)-IST-DOH-BNE
  • Same travel dates
  • Only difference: LX Flight departing at 9 PM -> TP Flight departing at 6 PM
After waiting them over an hour to investigate, the agent passed on what their supervisor said:
The system made a mistake allowing me to fly backward in the first place. It should have been two trips - therefore, if I want to change the ticket now, the system would ask for more points

Their supervisor offered me an one-off goodwill gesture for this change. If I want to make further changes in the future, I would have to pay per what the system says.

I don't think there any recent changes to the chart. I wonder if anyone got similar experience.

That was the first thing that came to mind as I saw your itinerary… the backtrack BUD-ZRH. As I started reading thought you post was going to ask why that routing wasn’t allowed, and I would have pointed to the backtrack!

As the agent said, that’s against the rules, not sure how it slipped through the first time, but you got lucky :)

Thanks for commenting.

I somehow thought this kind of route is allowed as I managed to have this reward ticket previously: AMM-CAI-BCN (stopover)-IST-SYD-BNE

Aeroplan probably fixed this issue in the past few months.
