How much poor 'Covid' service will you tolerate?

Does anyone understand how the postal overseas deliveries are working ?
Box one cleared Aust customs and delivered within two days
Box two (same USA sender same day etc ) arrived in Aust two days later and has been sitting "Kingsford Smith" for the past ten days. Just curious if someone has any insight .
Sadly my parcel to USA is still sitting at mascot . 20 business days is Monday. Currently have query into Aust post on that one (two days and holding on twitter )

I do accept the world is odd. Just hoping for some insight and clarity as there is no further flights required for box 2

Australia Post has stated that it has been handling an average of 1.8 million parcels per day, which IIRC it said was beyond even demand at 'normal' pre-Christmas period of late November to mid-late December.

While it has transferred some posties to mail centres to reduce sorting delays, it's possible that holdups are mostly in screening parcels for Customs where I assume the XRay or other machines have finite capacity that may have been reached.

The other delay reason (not applicable to your second parcel) is that with the huge reduction in passenger flights , there is limited space available on freight-only aircraft. On some routes, there are special Australian Government-funded freight only flights (using passenger aircraft I think) as part of a $110m Scott Morrison initiative to ensure Australian seafood, meat, wine and other exporters can honour contracts and get these items to foreign warehouses. These flights may carry parcels back into Oz: that hasn't been stated.

If one looks at the Australia Post website, there's quite a large list of nations where it is not currently accepting parcels or mail for. That's a further fly in the ointment. I believe that this is also due to the lack of nonstop flights (or even connecting ones). One assumes this also affects incoming mail and parcels.

Not great, but while Australia Post isn't perfect, some of the problems are out of its control.

I posted a parcel from Langwarrin last Wednesday going to Elwood. Lady at the PO said it might take a bit longer to arrive as they are under the pump. Arrived Monday to my granddaughter's delight. Nothing wrong with that service. Actually I've found Aus Post pretty efficient

So have I, including a parcel from Sydney to Melbourne taking three business days: it probably came by road not air.

And letters arriving within the advertised two business days. It has however temporarily discontinued 'priority mail' (50 cents extra: buy stickers at your local post office shop or licensed post office). The next day guarantee for many Express Post destinations has gone too for the time being (but may still be met sometimes). Even for interstate, not having space on passenger flights has apparently been a problem as everything cannot fit onto its dedicated freighter aircraft.

Five weeks and 2 days waiting for a parcel from 15 minutes away for express delivery within 3-5 days.

Two weeks for Australia Post to reply a complaint/query (website says 48 hours turnaround on queries). The response received "don't know where it is, suggest contact sender".

I purchased a small package of items from Amazon on Sunday night. On Tuesday morning I was advised that my payment had been declined, I'd clicked an old credit card number on their site. I changed it to the correct card.

The parcel was in my PO Box on Wednesday.

I ordered a new Kindle from Amazon.au last Monday; it was available for collection at one of the Amazon 'hubs' which I'd selected as a newsagency 10 minutes away. You go to a set of lockers at the back of the shop, type in your code and ' ping' the door opens. Got it Wednesday arvo. I reckon that's damn great delivery

Westpac have cancelled my credit card TWICE due to increased 'entered card' transactions (i.e. online).
All transactions were legitimate.
I asked them innocently if they were aware of a little global pandemic and therefore I was buying online.
Cancelled my card automatically.
Then took 1.5 weeks to get a new one to me.
Twice.

As bad as QF are, they refunded a QF63 J points award in a few days after cancelling it. SQ did not send a notification of a cancelation so I logged in to do it myself, however points have not been returned 4 weeks later now. As another SQ whinge, I had CPT-SYD booked for August (award again) that I moved to next year as it's not likely to go ahead, but they refused to budge on waiving fees. Had I waited until Aug becomes free cancelation, the seats would have been gone. Can't say they've impressed me thus far
