How many WP on one flight

Man there is going to be some sad folks whose quality of life is going to be shattered when this fifo circus comes crashing to an end.

It has come to a end, i remember 12 months ago it was near on impossible to hire a prado in PH, Newman with out 2 weeks notice, now you have a choice of the whole rental yard.

I think you will find more WP's happening as they push for family friendly rosters and bring a end to 2/1 and 4/1 swings.

Off topic for this thread but I know people who are working in Asia earning ~USD15,000/month on a 28/28 roster largely tax free or very little tax. Some of them struggle to string sentences together. They have it great.

Trying to work out why I bothered studying.

I'd love to know how they get away with that on that roster if they're still Australian residents. Tax laws for expats changed quite some time ago, the ATO gets you anyway now. No such thing as Tax free if you're an Aus resident now - you have to be a non-resident for Tax purposes to pay no, or little Aus tax.
If they're not Aus residents then fair cop.

I'm sorry if I sound annoyed but I do get sick of the "Rose coloured glasses" type comments I see from people with zero exposure to mining/remote construction/oil & gas who repeat anecdotal stuff perpetuated in the media. The cream does exist but it's very, very few and far between and far from the norm.

Not saying that's you JohnK but it is a little bugbear of mine.

Come on out and try it everyone - you can get $400K stress free as a cleaner.

I have met people from around the globe. USA, Australia, New Zealand, UK etc. Renounce citizenship and base yourself out of Singapore, Thailand etc.

Not having a go but USD15,000/month even for the 28 days off is obscene. And some the ones I have met in Thailand like to flash their money around.

I too was very disappointed in the general calibre of expats during my time in Asia. For some, simply being Caucasian seemed to endear a sense of entitlement amongst them, almost a colonialist attitude of being "amongst" the savages. Now this is a generalisation, and of course there are just as many who don't fit the above.

But, the flip side is that it also seems those type get entrenched there. One term i heard was FILTH, failed in London, try Hong Kong.

Working on the oil rigs off the Vietnam coast. Not sure of the job title. Turner and fitter?

Fascinates me the number of people who get paid a motza in places like KBL but are too cheap to pay for J - because FIFO here, while common, is generally only reimbursed in Y.
