I was advised last week by a friend that on a flight from Port Hedland to Perth the CSM announced that there were 94 WP's on board!!!. That would be hard to beat!!.

Yeah, have heard them stories, & would be very accurate.

Would generally be all BHP/FMG people, quiet a few of the FIFO people are on a 5/2,4/3 roster (3,120 SC's per year) most others are on a 8/6 roster (1,560 SC's per year), then your 2/1 rosters.

Which is why QF brought in WP1, most WP1's I have had on a flight from PER or PHE is probably 3.

WP is the new SG remember

Yes understand FIFO rack up the SC's, but it is slowing down a bit. Most of my flights PER to PHE or KAR I have been the only WP1 on board and as flights are generally full, I get an upgrade most times.

52 flights a year on fully flex tickets that some-one else pays for. Nice.
Apart from the destination and roster of course.

I have seen/heard of between 20-30 Platinums for Friday evening BNE-SYD flights.

I've been on a flight from PER to PBO, OLCI the day before wouldn't work, kiosk wouldn't work, had to go to service queue and was given standby boarding pass, even as a SG. In the QP asked for a seat and they said they couldn't do it because the flight was oversold and all pax except for 4 people were platinum. Forced me to go into the standby piggy pen by the public service desk 15 minutes or so prior to boarding to see if I was going to fly...

I was in the Perth Business Lounge on a monday morning prior to 6 am departures to Port Hedland et al (BHP/RIO/FMG Sites). The lounge was all Orange His Vis and very full. By 6am the lounge had returned to normal dress code. I could easily see 90+ people heading to an individual flight.

 Did you get to fly in the end?

Man there is going to be some sad folks whose quality of life is going to be shattered when this fifo circus comes crashing to an end.

I'm passing through 30 years of "the circus", so I think it's here to stay. I'll stop before the circus does I'll give you the tip. And it's been absolutely fantastic to and for me.
The circus won't end in any of our lifetimes, and if it does it won't just be the mining circus that ends.

And still no attempt at priority boarding. ;)

55 on one KTA_PER flight one day. The only thing that irks me about the FIFO, is that they fly on a very well negotiated fare by the company but receive flexi status points every flight, whereby smaller guys like myself have to get a red e deal because of cost and only get half the points. Hard to get to WP on red-e-deals. Further to that no really cheap red-e-deals on country WA flights...seems we have to compensate for the deals made with the FIFO companies. {rant over lol}

That may very well be the case but I would hazard a guess that you are involved in a fairly specialised aspect of the industry. This gravy train of very low skilled labour earning massive money to do routine jobs is coming to a fairly rapid end I suspect. At least in the widespread way of the last five years.

Off topic for this thread but I know people who are working in Asia earning ~USD15,000/month on a 28/28 roster largely tax free or very little tax. Some of them struggle to string sentences together. They have it great.

Trying to work out why I bothered studying.

I'm not that specialised, I work in processing plants. No university education. Just 30 years + experience.
Don't believe everything you hear about "massive money to do routine jobs" Largely speaking its BS. But the unskilled labour in some of those poo-hole places sure earn their cash, and do pretty substantial hours to get it.

For instance the lowest level process operators in a lot of places, on even time rosters ie roughly 42Hrs a week FIFO ( Week on/off or 2/2 etc ) will be on about $60-70K + Super walking in off the street. IF ,and its a big IF, they can get a start. Hardly huge money.

FIFO WP the price you pay for this, no life, relationship strain, long hours, donga living and everyday same boring camp food.
No thanks.

Yep, I did 28/7 roster for 18 months, that was the best I could hack!
Yes the money was fantastic but it's a tough life...
