I need to redeem velocity points for a First Class flight DME/SYD on Etihad 68/454 for a date next year for which bookings have not yet opened and don't wish to phone Virgin because I might get an answer I don't want.

It would seem Flight 68 DME/AUH has no First available and only business.

My query is: Will Virgin insist on my using my points to purchase 2 sectors here (1xBusiness DME/AUH and 1xFCL AUH/SYD) or should I be able to treat it as one (First Class?) sector?

Two sectors would see me short of points or the 80% I need to buy more but if they could be persuaded to treat it as one FCL journey it would be sweet!

Perhaps some kind traveller more experienced than myself could help?

Thanks in anticipation
