Hello all

I'm sure that this request wont baffle any of you, however it is me.
I'm booked to travel SYD-LA-NY-LHR-SYD and would like to know what I could expect to earn from this.

I'm Gold status, but will be at the back of the bus for this trip.

Best wishes

Assuming it is a paid ticket, in discount economy fare class (note that only the most expensive econ fares are treated as full economy - these are roughly as expensive as business class), assuming you have a change of flight number at LAX (or alternatively stop over at least one night before continuing to JFK), and assuming you do NOT change flight number or stopover at HKG/SIN/BKK between LHR and SYD, then we have the following earning.

Note flown mileage is approximate and may differ from that used by QF. For convenience I have excluded any status bonus 25% QF Silver, 50% QF Gold, 100% QF Platinum.

SYD-LAX 7502 flown miles = 45 sectors, 7502 points (11253 points incl bonus for QF Gold)
LAX-JFK 2472 flown miles = 25 sectors, 1236 points if on AA/2472 points if on QF (1854/3708 points respectively incl bonus for QF Gold)
JFK-LHR 3466 flown miles = 25 sectors, 1733 points (on either AA or BA) (2600 points incl bonus for QF Gold)
LHR-SYD 10556 flown miles = 60 sectors, 5278 points if on BA/10556 points if on QF (7917/15834 points respectively incl bonus for QF Gold)

It is a paid ticket, in discount econ.
Currently waitlisted on QF107 to go direct [stop at LAX] to NY. NY for 4 nights before LHR. LHR for 4 nights before SYD. Only stops are required for plane, not me.

Does a sector count for the status credits that will be earned?

I think Kiwi Flyer spends a lot of time on Singapore Airlines, as the "sector count" terminology has more to do with PPS status on SQ (or maybe other airlines??) than any sort of status on QF. But it does mean status credits!

If you get onto QF 107, it will mean instead of the above you will get 60 status credits (10 less) and 14921 miles (including status bonus) for the SYD-JFK sector. But the bonus is that you don't have to pay $60 fuel surcharge and various insurance related surcharges to go from LAX-JFK unlike those of us would connect to QF107 from MEL and BNE direct services!!

Sorry I meant status credits of course. As dajop posted, earn a little less status credits and points by taking the through flight SYD to JFK - ie if you can change it so different flight number SYD to LAX then the OP will earn more.
