How is Thailand right now?

Anyone here recently visited Thailand or have any insights what it is like over there?
We have a backup trip to go coughet / Krabi and not sure to do this or stick with our primary plan to United States/Canada.
We've fully planned USA/Canada but with the cases going up over there and Canada's PM giving warning to their citizens not to travel, we are scared of not being able to go to Canada as this was the highlight of the trip (Snowfields). Also scared of catching covid and having to quarantine.
Thailand cases seems to be more manageable but are they testing everyone or just some people who are able to be tested??

For Thailand, we are able to explore after 1 day of isolation in an approved hotel/resort waiting for PCR test to come back.
This is the same with Canada now - all visitors are tested and will have to isolate until negative test result but they require us to book and show them where we can do our 14day quarantine if required. Even with hotel 48hour cancelation policy, I don't think it gives us enough time to cancel.

Is Thailand getting a lot of visitors right now or are tourist still not heading over there??
 
I’ve been here since last year (though mostly in a rural area) and aside from the masking, sanitising and check-in rituals, life is fairly normal.

The nightlife in the tourist areas has died, but if you just want a quiet, relaxing holiday then it should suit - if you can put up with the administrative hassle of entering.

And the dry season weather is perfect at the moment.
 
Happy for a quiet relaxing holiday. hire a scooter, explore and find remote beaches and bars.
So are covid cases pretty low for each city, less than 1000?
Yes to markets and yes to shopping for the missus.. I guess will have to stop by Bangkok.
 

Thailand reinstates mandatory Covid quarantine​

Some breaking news has just come in from Thailand.
The country will reinstate its mandatory Covid quarantine for foreign visitors and scrap a quarantine waiver from Tuesday, the Reuters news agency reported.
 
BLOODY hell.. is this real?

Ok It's confirmed, they are pausing approval for the application.
That's ok though, I'm glad we got approved on Sunday :p

Currently on my trip to Thailand. Arrived into coughet for the test & go scheme. coughet was absolutely phenomenal. Great nightlife in Bangla Road and stayed at Nai Harn resort which was bloody epic. Super nice time to travel as roads arent super busy. Thai people are so so friendly despite the horror 18 months, fantastic mask wearing attitude over here and everywhere is temperature checking. Feel very safe with only 45 or so daily cases on the island. Heading to Bangkok tomorrow where there seems to be 400 daily cases which is pretty amazing for such a big city. Return to Melbourne on NYE

Its been a while. Next week will be 2 years since we returned from Thailand. Life is not the same.

Wife is homesick. Wife and daughter going back in 3 weeks and will stay around 6 months. We chose coughet sandbox and then up to Chiang Mai. Im going for 1 month in May. Ive been alcohol free since we came back to Australia. Looking forward to my first drink in May.

Covid is now ripping through the countryside. A family of 8 living across the road from our block of land all diagnosed with Covid. My nephew's school closed again. Quite a number of neighbours all have Covid and the hospital sends car to come and get them.

I hope no one is holding their breath waiting for nornal to return.
