How does Hertz treat you

So landed to absolute chaos at Melbourne airport today across all the car rental places (teach me to land at peak business time)

Was allocated a long range polestar but got to the car and found it was not a dual motor. Had a sniff around and actually found a facelifted dual motor hiding out right next to the office.

Asked them to switch - no problems. Apparently on their system a polestar is a polestar is a polestar when in fact they have at least 3 variants I've seen.

I'd hate to have not had status getting a car this morning... Wednesdays apparently

I've rented from Hertz Fyshwick a couple of times recently (as a Gold) and received a Subaru on both occasions (a Forester and a Crosstrek).

I found both vehicles to be underwhelming, gas guzzlers and rather clunky, when compared with other modern SUV's, such as RAV4 and CX30.

As for a Polestar, I wouldn't wish one on anybody (at least anyone wanting to travel a fair few km's). I was forced to take one at Hertz LHR a few years ago, as they claimed they didn't have any ICE cars available, even though I had reserved one. For someone needing to do a 1,000 km round trip, it didn't work terribly well. But that's another story.

Had the Forester ex-SYD last Xmas - it's rubbish.

Fyi to everyone, if you don't like what's given there's no harm in asking what else is around. Often they have all sorts of random inventory lying around.

Dropped off my car today, turns out they offered the Polestars to staff for 30k. An enticing proposal...

If I was Hertz staff I wouldn’t be taking a Polestar off them until they offered me at least 50K… 😁

Quick question for the Brains Trust. Hopefully this is an appropriate thread?

I have a booking for a Hertz rental car scheduled for pick up at Melbourne airport at 7.30pm (flying in from Sydney) on a weekday night. It now looks like I will only be getting in around 11.30pm (same day) as I’ll now be travelling on QF499 which departs Sydney at 10pm.

When I try update the pick up time on the Booking, the Hertz website is either telling me to contact them or it forces me to make a whole new booking at a higher price.

Should I simply call on the night and let them know that I am delayed or rebook and wear the higher fees? Any advice or insight would be welcomed.
