How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Property: Mercure Warsaw Central
Status: All Accor Explorer Platinum
Room booked: Classic Room
Room upgraded/type: Superior Room
Rate: All Plus Flex Rate 333 PLN ~AU$135
Early check in/late out: Arrived 4.5 hours prior to offical check in and when asking to check in the first question was had we paid for early check in, upon answering no they basically didn’t want to talk to us however without mentioning status we asked if they could at least look at the reservation and magically after pulling it up and seeing the platinum status the room was ready. Didn’t ask for late check out as we didn’t need it.
Free internet: Yes.
Free breakfast: No.
Welcome drink: Yes, via the app and redeemable at the hotel restaurant. The choice was anything off the menu except
Bottles of wine and top shelf spirits.
Welcome amenity: Pack of chocolate nuts.
Recommend: Yes, it’s a good location across the road from a major shopping centre and also nearby to the train station. The hotels had a renovation and the price is usually quite reasonable.

Ok last one from Europe.

Property: Ibis Madrid Las Ventas
Status: All Accor Explorer Platinum
Room booked: Standard Double
Room upgraded/type: Yes, Roof top terrace room (about 3 room categories higher) and impressive from an Ibis where upgrades are technically not a status benefit.
Rate: Accor Global Black Friday Stay 3 nights get 30% off plus an extra 10% off from membership.
€192 total, €64 per night. ~AU$329 total or ~$109 per night.
Early check in/late out: Arrived after check in but at check in requested a late check out of 1pm (only an extra hour and granted without any problem).
Free internet: Yes, but it was slow 4-5mbps download.
Free breakfast: No, was informed during check in it was €12 extra per day and I rejected and never went to breakfast. Annoyingly at check out they said I had one breakfast to pay for and I told them I never went to breakfast, without further question it was removed and no problems.
Welcome drink: Yes, tap beer or wine from the hotel bar which came with some nuts.
Welcome amenity: No, it’s an Ibis not a benefit.
Recommend: Yes, I had 3 nights in Madrid just me this time and I was tossing up between several places. There aren’t a lot of mid range accors or even in general just hotels in the Madrid city centre they’re either ultra expensive or ultra budget. Not wanting to spend $1000 per night or even $300 which is what the Mercure wanted for an average looking 16sqm “single room” I settled on this one as it was close to the metro but unlike the other Ibis budgets and styles in Madrid it’s part of the loyalty program so could redeem some points here. The location is easy and the staff excellent giving great food and sightseeing recommendations around the city. I wasn’t expecting the upgrade but it was very nice and had a view over Las Ventas (the bull fighting ring). I guess in the spring the terrace would be lovely and just underneath the hotel is a full supermarket so easy to grab some snacks/drinks.

Property: Grand Mercure Agra, India
Status: All Accor Gold / A+
Room booked: Superior Room with 1 double bed
Room upgraded/type: Junior Suite (with a Taj and metro station view)
Rate: ALL Accor+ Explorer - FLEXIBLE RATE - FULL BOARD*
Early check in/late out: N/A
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: Yes, via the app and redeemable at any of the three hotel restaurants.
Welcome amenity: Plate of fruit.
Recommend: Depends
Pros:
- seem to treat ALL members well. Staff would make a beeline over to say hello
- two (possibly three category upgrade as Gold was a pleasant surprise
- metro right outside with a short ride to Taj Mahal (West Gate) and Red Fort
- rooftop bar, pool and restaurant (as well as two internal restaurants)
- A+ discount honoured on F&B

Cons:
- VERY popular with tour groups - so main buffet restaurant packed most of the time
- VERY popular with locals for my big fat Indian wedding functions** with thumping music thru to midnight most nights
- Buffet food quality was so so

*Booking Full board was a mistake (that’s B’fast, Lunch and dinner - all buffet). Not sure there was a Half Board (B’fast / Dinner option)? Should have just booked B&B and used A+ discount as required at the non-buffet restaurants.

**wedding season coincides with peak tourist season…Nov to Feb…
