How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Stayed at the Sofitel a few times and whilst the service is great and the EL puts on a good spread I’ve just personally found it too big. It’s quite a large resort and as such can be absolutely packed at times

I'd concur with this. At times getting a lounge by the pool can be a challenge, but not impossible. If you have a pool or lagoon access room then that's less of an issue. Having said that, it's still one of the better Accor properties in Bali, unless you're looking at The Raffles etc.

Having also stayed at the Conrad, I'd probably say that the Conrad is a better hotel.

Property: Novotel Jakarta Gajah Mada
Status: Platinum A+
Room booked: Superior room with 1 king bed
Rate: RHR ~ $50 AUD
Room Upgrade: yes to superior suite
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: Yes, platinum benefit
Early check in / late out: Late check offered but not required.
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 in app, redeemed for Iced chocolate/coffee, only juice tea coffee soft drinks offered.
Welcome Gift: Plate with custard desert and spring roll brought to room later in evening.
Recommend: Depends on what you like, I probably won’t stay again. Nothing particularly wrong just nicer options at similar price point.

Booked this to have a look, I’ve seen it pop up on RHR before, it was cheap on RHR. Needed one night after arrival before catching train to Yogyakarta. Yes it’s not next to station but that’s a quick Grab ride.

It’s nice enough, breakfast a bit underwhelming considering other hotels of equal price .

Decent status recognition and nice upgrade to suite for a bit more room, but it’s showing its age, rooms a bit worn/tired etc. staff as in most hotels in Jakarta are helpful and friendly and polite to the extreme.

Property: Aparthotel Adagio Glasgow Central
Room booked: One bedroom (suite like) apartment
Rate: Flexible long stay special rate £168 pn
A quick postscript to this report. I got a full haul of SCs from this stay, so it would fit into their Aparthotel Premium category. Wasn’t sure where the stay would land as Adagio Original stays get 40% of the full complement and Adagio Access gets 20%, but they all have Aparthotel Adagio logos.

Property: Grand Mercure Yogyakarta
Status: Platinum A+
Room booked: Superior room with 1 king bed
Rate: RHR ~ $50 AUD per night
Room Upgrade: yes to premium deluxe king
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: Yes, platinum benefit but did not use
Early check in / late out: Late check offered but not required.
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 in app, redeemed for fresh pineapple juice ( no alcohol here as license lost 🤷‍♂️)
Welcome Gift: Plate of fruit, quite nice.
Recommend: Yes it was nice , staff super helpful, it’s a little further out from main drag but an easy grab ride to/from station. But you will need to BYO own alcohol if required.

Another RHR special though I think prices are normally low anyway.

We were doing a short stay in Jogja get a sunrise in, Borobudur and prambanan etc, plus some walking and food touring, so really only needed a place to lay our heads.

Nice status recognition, room upgrade, spacious, clean, very comfortable bed.

Staff were excellent remembered our names and welcomed us as we came and went. Though seemed to be quite quiet not many guests to track 😀

We never had breakfast, so can’t comment as we were either out early (once at 3.30am) and had breakfast out or still full from all the evening eating.

Couple odd things,

In the room there were a set of room keys and a tissue left behind by house keeping, I called down and they did not seem bothered, someone eventually came to collect them.

The bar has lost its liquor license, I had read that elsewhere so was not unsurprised when I could not order a beer.

Property: Mercure Nagoya Cypress
Status: Platinum A+
Room booked: Standard Double
Rate: ~$125
Room Upgrade: Privilege Queen
Free internet: Yes
Free Breakfast: Yes. Not a huge range if i recall, mostly Japanese with a bit of western.
Early check in / late out: Was allowed to check in at 12pm, Late check out offered but not required.
Welcome drink: Yes in app, plus given a voucher. Didn't have time to use
Welcome Gift: Bag of snacks.
Recommend: Yeah i'd say so! I really was only here briefly and spent very little time in the hotel itself so i can't say much about it really. Got upgraded to a very spacious room though. Not very far from the station, though it was raining when i went so that was slightly annoying. Will stay at again next time i can stop through Nagoya for a bit longer!

Property: Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai Airport
Status: Platinum A+
Room booked: Superior King
Rate: ~$100/night
Room Upgrade: Executive King

Free Breakfast: Yes. Quite a decent buffet spread really! Mixture of both local and western.
Early check in / late out: Early check in not required, arrived after midnight, Late check out offered but not required.
Welcome drink: Yes in app. Didn't have time to use
Welcome Gift: Plate of mini desserts
Recommend: If you have a short stop in Bali, absolutely. Hotel is on the airport grounds and you can use a trolley up to the lifts, though the path is bit sketchy but fairly straight forward haha. I was only stopping through for 2 nights (really only 34 hours) and figured it was just easier to stay at the airport hotel than take it out to a hotel and back. I was out most of the day so didn't get a chance to experience most of the hotel but the breakfast was great and looked like a great hotel overall. Wasn't entirely sure if the minibar was free but it looked like it might be, i wasn't charged for the coke i had at least.

I had a friend pick me up outside airport grounds on his bike as bikes can't come into airport grounds apparently, but i came back to the hotel in a gojek car. Seemed a bit confusing on if payment would be needed but the driver seemed to suggest a few 1000 would do, i had some small notes so was happy to provide, even if it just ended up being a tip. They had to go sign in the car though, wasn't sure what that was about.

Not sure what circumstance would make me stay here again but i'd be happy to come back still, felt like i missed out on a bit!

Attending an event at the convention centre (and watched beauty and the beast at Festival Centre), so location was perfect. Previously stayed at the Sofitel which was lovely, but it was 100 dollars more this time, so decided to give this property a shot. Between this and the Grosvenor hotel next door, this was night and day.

Great upgrades, and I reckon you’d have a decent chance most days with the great suite to room ratio here. Free minibar (non-alcoholic only) for Platinums as well is a plus. I will say the couch is more form over function - it’s not nearly high enough on the back or plush enough to get comfy!

Breakfast is a small spread with the usual suspects (eggs, sausages, veg, yoghurt etc). But they were all high quality, and made in small batches. It is quite a small space though so gets packed quickly.

If everything was equal, would probably choose Sofitel for Executive Lounge, but really a close call given the likelihood of suite upgrades and free minibar.

Side note: Beauty and the beast did not disappoint. Highly recommend for everyone to have a look. Having seen it in Brisbane also, I reckon Adelaide does it even better. Stunning venue.

What sort of late check-out was offered? I've actually got a booking here for next year. I have a flight leaving the next day at 1:20am and wondering I need to book two night or whether they've be generous enough with an incredibly late checkout.

I was offered 1pm. They do have a day rate you can pay $85 for, but it might not extend til quite that long in the night, google suggests 2pm-8pm. Seemed like the hotel was full when i was there so that might have changed things too.

Given its only about $100 for the night, I'll just book a second night and be done with it.

Early check in / late out: Late check-out 3pm.
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 in app, redeemed for hot chocolate.
Welcome Gift: Plate with cakes and fruit plate
Recommend: probably, it’s cheap, and also nicer than Gadja Madah, newer rooms, has exec lounge with decent options and a large and decent breakfast offering, also largest pool in a hotel I’ve stay at recently. Also an ibis next door and a shopping centre.

Another RHR special, pretty happy with it, only 1 category upgrade, but beggars can’t be choosers. there was a big wedding on, plus conference so assumed mostly booked out.

Exec lounge had decent drink and food options in the evening, and breakfast in the restaurant was good, for the price it’s a steal especially for 2.

Property : Sofitel Melbourne on Collins
Status : Accor + Gold
Rate : Stay plus night booked many months ago.
Upgrade : Prior to our stay, I decided to upgrade to a luxury corner room - $140. Prefer to book a room that I want rather than play Upgrade Lotto, no further upgrade at check-in.
Free Internet: Yes
Parking : Valet @ $75 pn
Breakfast : Accor Plus Dining discount applied 50%
Early check-in: Yes 1 pm
Late check-out: Yes 12.30 pm
Welcome drink : Booking dropped off my App a few weeks back, so given vouchers x 2 for use in The Atrium.
They happily brought our drinks into No 35 for dinner which was appreciated.
Welcome amenity: Bottle of French Champagne, handwritten card and plate of macaroons delivered late afternoon to our room - think moreso for my birthday.
20250617_171554.jpg

Guest services later also delivered a small gift bag of Hermes products.
The welcome card was with the bottle of water - initial impression that was my amenity - maybe it was!
20250617_140026.jpg

Recommend : First stayed here in early '90's when it was The Regent/ Wentworth? and has been many years since we last stayed as a Sofitel. Not much has changed, not sure if I would pay $400-500 per night, but good use of Stay plus benefit.
I felt it was a very underwhelming checkin (think the front desk person may have been relatively new and nervous.) Nothing explained except call "9" if you want anything and given a sheet of paper to read, no big deal though.
After settling in, all the staff, Valet, Bar, Restaurant, Concierge were very good.

A very pleasant 24 hours in my home city.

Nice! I love those Hermes products... always had to ask for extra where I found them. What was the champagne they gave you? I can't make out the house from the top there. Oh, and Happy Birthday! 🎂

Cheers,
Matt.

That's a way better welcome gift (the champagne and Hermes products) than I've ever had staying there as a platinum repeat customer. Go figure.

Those bottles of water are replenished daily and free. Seems so wasteful but 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Champagne sounded more impressive than Sparkling @dairyfloss

Recommend: Yes, definitely for plat with free breakfast and afternoon tea, evening coughtails. Service is also superb.

Had a stay here as A+ Gold when it first opened, no upgrade then but I think the suites were not ready 🤷‍♂️ maybe.

Good status and past stay recognition. Very nice upgrade, at first sounded like just 1 category up, but when we got to the room it was a suite, nice surprise .

Received 2 calls, one 10 mins after getting to the room for the girl who checked me in to make sure I was happy with the room, and a little later from guest services manager also checking I was happy.

Most staff recognised us as we went about our business, welcomed to breakfast, afternoon tea and evening coughtails by name.

Compared to other places stayed this trip, they almost seem over staffed, always someone about.

Best breakfast buffet and also cooked made to order options in recent times, also the most options, so many even with three days here could not try everything. Almost every nationality covered, and certainly all the Asian ones. I’ve only added a few of the breakfast setup pics, there are too many stations to show everything

Afternoon tea and chocolate hour was nice enough, better than wellington.

As the exec lounge is not ready, evening coughtails was in one of the restaurants, they had a selection of 8 savoury and 2/3 sweet dishes plus drinks each night, all made to order, and you could keep ordering between 5-7 so much food and all really good.

Also most comfortable bed of the trip, at least for me, I like a soft mattress, Mrs mort prefers a firmer bed.

So this is my current Jakarta favourite.

Won’t be through again until next year , might try a few new spots, was a bit of fun testing new (to me) places.
