Was looking to book the Sofitel Melbourne for a weekend in June and then saw this Hyde Melbourne Place in Russell St. at a comparable rate.
Has anyone stayed there yet and are the Accor Plus benefits applied for dinning?

Property: Sofitel Melbourne on Collins
Status: platinum with Accor plus
Room booked: junior suite using SNU
Room upgraded/type: yes, to prestige suite
Free internet: Yes
Free breakfast: yes, in lounge
Early check in/late out: Not required
Welcome drink: yes
Welcome gift: yes, little box of biscuits
Recommend: yes, if platinum or above

I really enjoyed my stay at the Sofitel. I think the hotel must have been quiet during my stay, as there were very few people in the lounge.

Loved the lounge, it was comfortable, with good food and service. The canapés provided during my stay were pork buns, corn fritters and felafel, with a lovely cold buffet.

Welcome gift was underwhelming, but I would Prefer an upgrade over a gift any day!

Would definitely stay again, although at the price point I may not if I didn’t have lounge access as that was a real bonus.

I'm staying here in a few weeks (actually here right now on a work trip and will post details later) also in a junior suite using SNU. Hoping for an upgrade too. I really enjoy the serenity of the lounge breakfast. Just wish they didnt have the TVs going.

FYI Google reviews suggest the rooms are pretty small, and there might be a few teething issues. Great to have another Accor option though.

Free breakfast. Yes with status. Choice of buffet and limited a la carte menu of about 6 dishes. A really nice selection of fresh juices also available.
Early check in/late out: Not required
Welcome drink: Yes, we redeemed at the elephant bar for 2 coughtails
Welcome gift: A very thoughtful one.. a framed sketch of the property, signed by about half a dozen staff members, macarons in some beautiful clay pots and a bowl of fruit.
Recommended: Every day of the week and twice on sundays. The property is stunning but it's the staff that really make it. Cambodian hospitality is the the warmest i've come across and i could not fault my stay.
