How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

There might be a few of us here with “Evil Dead“ Accor ALL accounts in the system. There was a time where they were doing instant “Platinum” and “Gold” signup offers. I may have signed up once or twice using different eMail addresses 🤫.

I managed to kill off one or two accounts, but I think I still have one orphan besides the newest and current Primary account. Rarely, but once or twice a stay has incorrectly been linked to my old account - usually only at properties where I’d stayed previously.
That’s not the cause for me. I’ve only joined once.

Talking with the front desk here, their theory is that our corporate TA has used different name formats over time.

They suspect that the name format used when I had no status has reappeared in the Corp TA system for my recent bookings.

The inference being they don’t think it’s an Accor issue.

I’d argue that setting your loyalty system up so the membership number changes every time your status changes is asking for trouble like this.

I never have or will understand why they do that. Although from memory, it’s only the last couple of digits that change?

Property: Sofitel Wentworth
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked : Junior Suite City Views
Room upgraded: No
Rate: Accor Plus City Sale $504 for 2 nights
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: 2 vouchers, 1 box of macarons, 1 bottle of wine and water.

First time at this hotel. On my past Sydney visits have stayed at Sofitel Darling Harbour or the Swissotel. Our visit was a Friday and Saturday night on the first weekend in June.

Arrived at the hotel around 11.30am and room was ready. At check in was asked what we would like for our welcome gift. For the wine had a choice of sparkling, red or white and then a choice of chocolates or macarons (there may have been other choices). Selected white wine and did not ask what type. When delivered (we were not in the roomat the time) it was Sauvignon blanc. Next time will ask what type.

The Junior Suite was good and bathroom big.

As we had other committments with friends and family had little time in the lounge but the short time we had in the lounge was enjoyable. Good selection of food and drink.

Breakfast was in the restaurant opposite the lounge. Saturday morning the wait in the queue was around 5 minutes. Sunday morning the wait was at 15 minutes and the line went back past the lifts. Range and quality was ok though not the quality of the Sofitel Darling Harbour or Swissotel.

The hotel was fully booked both nights.

Any leftover signs of its heavy use as a quarantine hotel at the Wentworth? I've long had affection for it but the shine went off it a bit after the DH site opened, and then seeing photos of it being used for quarantine, messy/trashed rooms etc. But I kind of miss it 😂

Anna no signs of it being a quarantine hotel. I can understand how one can have affection for it. The Junior Suite even though small compared to the suite at the Swissotel (which were upgraded to) was very nice. It was close to the sights of Vivid which was good.

Not in the same league as Sofitel Darling Harbour (which was twice the price for a Friday and Saturday night) or the Swissotel (which was $300 more) but depending what i go to Sydney for would stay again. One advantage for SW is that easy access to the airport.

First stay at the Sofitel Auckland - wasn't sure what to expect in terms of status recognition as the rates we booked were especially sharp for a long weekend. Both rooms were booked from my account and while we didn't receive any upgrades, we did receive drink vouchers and Club Millesime invite letters for both rooms at check-in:

Millesime was fine - it was fairly busy on the Fri & Sat nights we stopped in for evening drinks. There was a reasonable selection of cold cuts, nibbles and one or two small hot items. Wine & beer was self service, I didn't spot the spirits mentioned on the letter, but wasn't looking closely.

The breakfast served at La Maree was consistently excellent. Plats get the "full breakfast" which consisted of an a la carte item, plus access to the buffet, and a barista coffee.

Between us, we tried all the a la carte items over the three mornings - so here they are in menu order:

Unfortunately no pics of the buffet, but it was on the smaller side with some basic pastries, cold cuts, fruit, single-serve yoghurt tubs and cereal. I'm guessing most guests are either getting included breakfast with their room/status, or just buying an a la carte item. Occupancy seemed quite high on the Fri and Sat night as a queue formed at breakfast for La Maree on Sat and Sun mornings, but on the Monday morning we almost had the place to ourselves and saw very few guests in the lobby.

Our flight back to Australia was leaving at 5:45pm on Monday, so I went to the front desk on Sunday afternoon to request a 3pm late check-out. For reference, the standard check-out time is 11am. Without checking anything on the computer, the first staff member I spoke to said the best they could do was 1pm. I asked if that was also the case for Platinums, to which she said "oh, just a moment, let me check with the manager".

A few moments later he comes out to the desk and says the best they can do is midday (going backwards now!) but they can sell me a 3pm late check-out for $50 per room. I expressed my disappointment at the status benefit not being honoured and that they needn't worry - we would just checkout at 11am and leave our bags with concierge for a few hours. He back-pedalled and offered a 3pm late checkout "as a once off".

Other than that awkward interaction it was an excellent stay and I was very happy they extended Club access & restaurant breakfast for both rooms. The hotel has had a beautiful makeover and is worth a visit.

Points and status nights have already posted less than 24 hours after check-out, however the points amount received was only for one room - despite ALL members being eligible to earn points for two rooms if they are paid together on the one folio (which they were). Will be lodging a support case with Accor.

Rate: Members Book With Confidence, Room Only
Welcome drink: Yes, vouchers (7! for a three night stay), some fruit and small deserts in room as well
Early Check in/out: Late check out offered but not needed

Got in late in the evening to Bangkok and was staying at the VIE. It's very easy to get to as it's just one stop on the BTS (to Ratchathewi) from the airport line station (Phaya Thai). You could even walk from Phaya Thai, instead of taking the BTS, in about 10-15 mins. Check in acknowledged my Platinum status, gave me an upgraded room and a total of 7 drink vouchers, much more than I needed or expected for a three night stay by myself. Vouchers could be used for almost any drink, even coughtails. Was asked if I needed a late check out but as my flight was early in the morning I didn't.
Suite was very large corner suite, located on the 20th floor. The hotel also has a very well equipped gym, lovely small pool with bar and a pleasant lobby bar. Unfortunately the lounge is yet to reopen due to staffing constraints. Breakfast was also very good (after a few moments of confusion about it not being included in my rate but me being entitled to it as a Plat) the buffet is small but very well stocked with everything I wanted.
Overall I was pretty impress and would definitely recommend this hotel. It's in a very handy location, the room was great and the staff were excellent.

ALL support fixed up the missing points within 24 hours with reward points and status points for both rooms being credited. Status nights credited for one room only.

This was my first time crediting multiple rooms on the one stay, good to know that status points can be earned from both rooms! (would make retaining status by spend fairly doable at average Australian accommodation rates)

Mantra on View is a staple for us on the Gold Coast, not especially luxurious but generally dependable and reasonably priced. This visit was no different - clean room, comfortable beds and a quiet stay overall. The rooms are a little dated (especially bathrooms) but this didn't impact our stay. Staffing must still be tight as the room was only partially serviced (fresh towels supplied and rubbish removed, but beds left unmade). Not a big deal but I would have liked the hotel to mention this at check-in.

A nice bottle of pinot gris was waiting for us in the room, I assume this was in lieu of welcome drinks as the restaurant and bar are still closed in the evenings. No welcome "gift" to speak of but they waived the parking charge for us which was probably more useful than the box of tiny slices I've seen too much of lately.

Breakfast wasn't included in the room rate but the buffet was reasonably priced ($25) with plenty of options and staff regularly replenishing the selection. No issues redeeming the Accor Plus discount. Barista coffee was an upcharge and not subject to Accor Plus discount (I understand this for alcohol but it seems petty to apply to coffees and soft drinks...).

Overall a pleasant stay and once again reliable enough to meet expectations and secure future bookings as well.

Should have been eligible for the 15% "beverage discount" at the very least.

Edit: Oops, double checked the benefits page and that might only apply in Asia...

We have stayed at this hotel late last year when it reopened after Covid and refurbishment. Perfect location for city stay, close to shops, restaurants and public transport. You are greeted at street live by the concierge and take a lift up to level 8 for the hotel foyer.

We had an early meal at the bar one night (had an early show), as the restaurant is not open earlier in the week. Food satisfactory (although would be expensive if not for 50% discount). There was a conference on so bar very lively on the second night, but pleasant staff. Room was spacious and very clean, as was the bathroom. Bathtub and separate shower. Hallways very quiet and lifts quick.

Breakfast was buffet style with plenty on offer, plenty of choice and replenished quickly, eggs cooked to order. Barista coffee offered at no extra charge.

Staff pleasant, but not over friendly, but we did not need too much interaction, but good service.

Overall a very pleasant stay and we will stay at this hotel again

Dodged a bullet there imho. The restaurant food when I was there recently was ordinary, expensive and they have dropped the Accor Plus discount to 10% at the restaurant which I find pretty ordinary behaviour for a mainstream property.
