How do you remain clean and sane when travelling in whY long-haul?

You just need the standard double prong adaptor that comes with them. Make sure you change the switch setting (on the plug that sticks into the headphones) to 'Lo' setting when you use them on the plane, as it gets rid of the annoying 'ping' sound if you've left it on 'Hi' (which you use for ipad, tablet, etc).

Ah! Thanks

I'm a convert now to compression socks for keeping me feeling fresh from the flight...as well as reducing the chances of DVT.

I usually put the socks on when I'm dressing to leave home for the flight but also put them on on the aircraft if I'm going to work before the flight.

On stopovers of 3-4 hours a Changi, I'll swap to normal socks for the transit and then refit prior to the next flight.

I purchase them at a suburban pharmac_ in Toowong. They measured my calf to ensure the correct fit.

Stillnox is on the list of barred medicines for entry into the UAE without prior approval from the local embassy and a copy of the doctors prescription.

That is indeed a serious problem as I have a few days stopover there. I'd better get onto the local embassy and get the Drs letter. I understand any painkillers containing codeine are also banned plus poppy seeds possibly falling off a bread roll eaten at the airport and lodging in the clothes, and other silliness.

Are they the 10mg ones?
I think mine are 10mg per tablet.
I like the Temazepam as well - but usually need 2 to make me sleep! (But I'm 100kg or so). How many do you take?
Usually knocks me out for 5 hours and then I can wake up without that fuzzy feeling!

Thanks everyone, there's some very good advice. In particular I was wondering about DXB (flying QF)?

(Note that I won't be eligible for Dubai Connect unfortunately)
A friend at work and his wife are going to Europe via Dubai on Emirates and returning the same way and asked me about paid lounge access.

I had a look at this. It seems quite good and only $45. Has anyone used this? What exactly do you get for your money? Should I pre-book?
I had a look at Marhaba lounge and the cost is USD45 per person. At face value he cannot justify, nor I, spending USD180 for 2 visits to a lounge.

He then also needs to consider time spent in FCO on the way back as well.

I know it's no help for Dubai, but if you're passing through SIN the Rainforest Lounge in T1 is brilliant.
Probably my favourite point amongst the many things I like about Changi.
No need for membership and shower access is only SD$8 including a free drink.
If you have mre time SD$30 gets you get a 3hr nap in a 'slumbrette' and a shower thrown in.
It's a little utilitarian by the standards of some lounges, but it's clean, neat and very very quiet.

I'm travelling through Dubai next week (or it might be the week after, I don't remember). Anyway, all I really want us to have a shower and something to eat. To me, that's not worth $45. Aren't there other showers in DXB which the public can use?
